I could be mistaken, but I don't think they stand for anything. I think they're just designations.

Nothing - they just like to use different letters as sometimes actual names do not translate well into the different languages of the countries they sell to.
They simply indicate the various trim levels which are available on a given Honda model. Each trim level has standard and available features and options.

They don't stand for anything, they just signify different equipment levels. On newer models the LX is the base model, the SE's (Special Edition when they exist - not a consistent option) are next up, then the EX, then the EX-L. The L in EX-L stands for leather - the EX-L is mostly the same as the EX but with leather seats and a few other things.
The type of trim package that comes from the factory on the car
The LX comes standard with A/C, power windows, doors, cruise, and most other common features. The EX adds sunroof, alloy wheels, four wheel disc brakes and sometimes and upgraded stereo. The EX-L adds leather to the EX package. The SE is usually a LX with alloy wheels and four wheel disc brakes. The DX, which is much less common doesn't come with some of the LX features and doesn't come standard with A/C. They usually have simpler looking hubcaps and have black door handles.
If I'm not mistaken the EX stands for extravagant, which would be the highest model of accord introduced in the third generation. I am aware the LX stands for luxurious, the next trim model up from DX, and DX would stand for deluxe. SE is special-edition, reappearing in '93. The extra letters, "l" and "i" are signifiers of higher trim levels. "l" meaning leather interior and "i" meaning fuel injected system, introduced to the EX post 1983 for the second generation accord.

- How to mount a centre stand on a 99 honda transalp? I'm trying to mount a centre stand on a honda transalp from 1999. Problem is that I can't find out where I should mount the springs. Where should the springs be hooked on to the frame? The bike is imported from germany, so I'm asssuming it's a EU model.

- Does a 99 Honda CR-V have and up and downstream oxygen sensors? My check engine light came on, took it in to O'Reily's, and they say I need a new O2 sensor. They can't tell me if it is up or downstream though so I'm wondering if the 99 CR-V only has one.
- Why does my car engine rev up and down? It revs up and down all the way up to 3x rpm and down? Also when i step on the gas pedal it revs up all the way to the top 8x rpm and stays right there even when i let go of the gas pedal. Please anyone who can tell me why this happens? This is a 1995 honda civic by the way
