1970 Honda Z50 won't start?
It's a pretty old bike, but I had it running great just a few weeks ago. Now it won't start for anything. I checked the spark plug, and it's sparking fine. The timing on the cams is fine, the piston moves correctly. I added a gas filter, and I only buy real gas(0% Ethanol). I took the carb off, cleaned it out, and it all seems fine to me. I just can't figure out what the heck is wrong with it.
If you didn't remove the jets and float needle and clean the separately with solvent and compressed air, then you didn't clean your carb.
Additionally, on a bike that old, closely inspect the intake manifold for air leaks.
Before buying new points, adjust them.
Clean the carburetor, especially the pilot jet.
When you cleaned the carb, did you blow out all the passages with air? As sometimes using carburettor cleaner alone is not enough. Also make sure fuel is reaching the carburettor, and getting into the carburettor. Easy way to find out if it's fuel related, is to spray a little carburettor cleaner or WD40 into the air intake inlet of the carb. Then attempt to start the bike. IF it starts (but will more than likely die soon after), then it's fuel issue. Usually a case of a clogged Pilot Jet and/or passage if fuel is getting into carb.
Simple bike, fuel fire, compression. Try new points and condenser just for giggles

- My 1983 Honda nighthawk 650 won't start with the electric start? I recently replaced the ignition coils because the old ones were getting heat soaked and the bike would die, however now the bike won't start with the electric start it turns over fin and the starter sounds fine but it won't start occasionally it ll start when it's cold or try to but I've been having to bump start it in order to ride it. So what's making it do this? Could it be the kill switch? Or something else?
- Best tire brand / style for vintage 1970's CB750 Honda? I'm replacing a worn vintage Dunlop rear tube tire on my early CB750 Honda. It's a Dunlop Roadmaster K81 4.25/85 x 18 tire with an H rating. Note: has remaining Donlop Roadmaster 19" tire on FRONT. Change tire tread style or Brand for rear replacement?
- If I made a few mods to the frame of a 1972 Honda z50, can I classify it as a moped? The 1972 honda z50 came with a vin. So it had to be street legal. In Michigan the engine has to be under 100cc, automatic engine and not go over 30 mph to be a moped. I have seen some mods that people have done to the frame but I just wanted to make sure
