2005 Honda Shadow overheating?
I put new coolant in it, and it's still overheating. When I ride it, it gets hot, the temp light comes on, then the oil light. I've kept it parked since then, and it has plenty of new oil and coolant. What's the problem?
Could be as simple as the thermostat. Could be running lean as well. I'll move this to the cycles category.
Most likely the thermostat is gone south for the winter.
Check for bent fins on the radiator.
Air rushing through the radiator fins is what keeps the coolant temperature down.
You want a WAG (wild-donkey guess)? Like, the thermostat, dude. Now, how would one check a mechanical device which is supposed to open when it is immersed in a hot liquid?
Air in system, thermosat, waterpump, blown head gasket or temperature sensor. Take your pick.
Did you use the air bleed t omake sure there's no air bubbles in the cooling system? Check manual t osee how & if needed.
For the rest, with engine cold remove radiator cap & start engine. Do bubbles keep appearing in radiator top tank? If so blown head gasket.
From cold, start engine & hold hand on top hose; it should stay cool for several minutes then warm suddenly when thermostat opens. Followed by radiator warming up as flow increases.
If not happening either stat or pump.
- Why is my 1998 Honda civic lx still overheating? I've replaced the thermostat, water pump, timing belt, flushed the radiator and done a coolant test to check for gasses and all is good. The fan is wire up so it automatically comes on when ignition is turned on and is blowing the correct way. Do I need to try a new radiator cap or radiator? Engine light is on but it's for a 02 sensor. Any help is appreciated.
- My 2005 Honda Civic is overheating - 1 I have replaced the water pump, thermostat, radiator, fans, fan switch, coolant temperature sensor, upper and lower radiator hoses, and overflow tank. It still continues to run hot. I have no water in my oil and no apparent coolant loss. When car overheats heater blows cold. What else could be the problem
- My 2001 Honda Civic is overheating and I can't figure out why? I have replaced the radiator cap, coolant reservoir, and thermostat. Also, I check the fans at various times and everytime they are running fine. Lastly, I'm not sure if this information helps, but I live in southern Louisiana where it is almost always hot. I'm a poor 25 year old female college student and I have no idea what else to do.
- Is the Honda Civic 2005 type R the same as the 2005 civic si? I know they are both ep3 body style. But did America sell the type r? Or is every 2005 civic ep3 here a si? And what's the difference between the ep2 and 3. And how hard is it to get a si with under 75,000 nowadays Thank you.
