2006 Honda cbr1000rr?

I just replaced my forkseals on my bike, 3 days ago, before I replaced it a lot of oil leaked out of the fork seals, I didn't ask them to replace that oil, I figured it was part of the job when installing new seals. Well I just noticed that my fork seals are busted again. Does this have something to do with the lack of oil in them? Or where does this oil come from anyway? Btw I haven't popped any wheelies but I still feel like they shouldve lasted a little longer.

What it probably means is that the stanchions were corroded or deformed and the seals were either unable to fit or they were fitted incorrectly. Lack of oil would not cause the problem (although excess oil might).

Hi so as the seals only work if the shafts they surface have no ridges in them. To be honest with an old motorcycle as old as this one you might now need new forks.

If your seals lasted only three days, go back to the shop for a warranty repair. New fork seals should last many years. The workshop should also have filled the fork with the correct weight and quantity of oil as per Honda recommendations. I'm guessing they overfilled and the extra pressure blew the seals.
You don't mention the condition of the fork tubes so I assume your fork tubes are in good condition because the shop would not have re-assembled your forks with bad tubes without bringing this important detail to your attention. The oil in the forks is for damping the suspension movement otherwise you would pogo on the springs every time you hit a bump. When the forks are compressed, the oil is forced through a series of small holes in the damper tube inside the forks, controlling the deflection of the fork tube and allowing the spring to return the suspension to full length quickly. With insufficient oil (or oil that is too light) the forks would feel spongy and bouncy.

You mean you paid Joe-the-druggie-who-needs-money-for-his-… To do something to your bike? Like wow, dude. Take it to the dealer.

  • My 2006 Honda Metropolitan Moped is not running right? When I slowly give my moped gas it runs fine until I hit about full throttle, then it like starts to bog down, its hard to explain but we think its a carburetor problem. Due to the previous owner taking off then air cleaner for an unknown amount of time. If you can give me tips/advice I'd appreciate it.
  • I have just changed the battery in my honda cbr1000rr after one month and it not firing up? It a honda cbr1000rr 2008 model. The bike's battery has been dead for more then a month… And it was parked in the sun for two months. The battery is good now but the bike won't start. It just keeps trying but it doesn't.
  • Honda CBR1000rr Vs Suzuki Hyabusa? So I'm looking into getting a sport bike and have narrowed it down to the CBR or the Hayabusa, they both look like great bikes and I really don't have that much knowledge aside from rididng and stunts. So I have a few questions, which bike is easier to wheelie, which one is a smoother ride, which has better handling, which one is more comfortable, and finally which one has better acceleration? Thanks in advance to all you motorcycle lovers!
  • Honda CBR1000RR Fireblade Repsol? I'd like to buy a Honda CBR1000RR Fireblade Repsol. The problem is I'm a girl and I'm only 1.60 meters tall and I'm skinny. Is it too heavy for me? And could I use it to go on holiday or just for the city? Or is it just for specific tracks?
