6'3 Able to ride motorcycle?
Hi, I'm 6'3" around 210 pounds and I'd really like to get a Honda Nighthawk 250 to begin on a bike. Would I fit on it?
None of these bikes is definitely too small for you. Every motorcycle has a little different spatial arrangement between the seat, handlebars and footpegs. How a particular model fits you is entirely subjective, and nobody can say but you. Find a 250 Nighthawk and sit on it and you'll know in a second whether it's comfortable or feels cramped. I mean, yes, you'll look like the big bear in the circus riding the tiny bicycle. 8^) But how it feels is what's important. Even on a 250 your weight is not going to be a problem, but your size might.
Consider that a 250 Nighthawk is going to be >20 years old. I remember there was a whole range of Nighthawks from 250 to 750, back in the 80s. Not sure when they discontinued that model but it was a while ago. A bike that old is going you give you a lot of grief. You will spend 1/5 of the time riding 1/5 wrenching, and the other 3/5 waiting for parts.
I got along with the suggestion of a Honda Shadow. Cruisers have an advantage for the very tall that you put your legs out in front of you rather than folding them beneath. The Shadow is a good capable all-around bike that you won't quickly grow out of. Plus they're very popular so Craigslist is lousy with good used ones.
That would be small for you. A 750 Honda Shadow would be much better for you. Also you can get foot peg extensions. I have 3inch extensions on my Harley. I'm 6'4", it makes the bike much more comfortable to ride.
You will certainly be able to ride the bike. I might suggest you go to a dealership and sit on one to see how it fits.
You might be more comfortable on a SV650 to a Ninja 500 or 650. They are good starter bikes too.
At your height, you might consider a dual sport motorcycle like a DRZ400 or KLR650.

The CB250 is *not* too small. You may be more comfortable stretched out on a 600-750cc Metric Cruiser, such as an old 600 or a newer 700 or 750 Shadow.
I ride a Vespa because I like minimums. You can ride a CB250. Or a VT750. The question is why you want the smaller bike. Do you want the cheap transportation, do you prefer riding a slow bike fast over riding a fast bike slow? Or you looking at a 250 because *others* say you should? Don't ride others' rides. Ride Your Own Ride.
Buy a Harley-Davidson Fat Boy.
- What motorcycle will give me a similiar ride to my 750 Shadow but bigger? I learned to ride on a 2007 Honda Shadow VT750C2F and now I'm looking to go bigger. I love almost every detail about my Shadow; tire size, spokes, driveshaft, handling, width, engine look and feel etc. However, in my next bike I want a bigger gas tank, more cubic cenimeters (inches) and I want to sit a bit higher on the hog (pun intended). 6 speed would be nice but mostly I want the look, feel and reliability of my Shadow in an 1100cc+. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
- Is it hard to ride a motorcycle? The motorcycle that I plan to ride is Honda Wave 125, will it be hard to ride a motorcycle like that?
- Is a 1980 Honda cm400t a good beginner bike? I'm just looking for something that I can learn how to ride and ride in the city? I have completed the msf course and was looking alt 250's but couldn't find any near me in price range but the Honda 400 was
- How likely am I to be able to get finance on a motorcycle at 18? I'm currently 18 years of age and want to get a nice new 125cc (honda cbf125 or yamaha ybr125/mt125) for running around London, how likely am I to be able to get it on finance and what does it depend on? If anyone could explain this in simple terms that I d understand then I d appreciate it, I have no license yet or anything but if I'm able to sort out finance etc. Then I ll be getting my cbt done.
