Best sports bike for around 4,000?
I'm currently riding an 85' honda shadow 700cc. I'm six foot 250 lb 18 years old and want to buy my first sport bike. I want to spend around $4,000 for my next bike. I want something faster and bigger.

Take your time looking and don't jump on something, be open to several bikes, and find something in great shape… Have the money and be ready to buy because a good deal won't last, but you will find something for that amount in really good condition, don't settle for less.
Any sport bike will be alot faster then a shadow, get a cbr 600 or gsxr 600. Both of those bikes have about 3x the horsepower your used to.
I'm 6'2" and 220 pounds. I would recommend a GXSR 600 or the ZX6R. Like Blair said, any 600 will have roughly 3 to 6x the power ratio than the cruiser.
Your best bet for sport bikes, is sizing each bike to yourself. A few tips to sizing one, as you don't want to buy it and hate it a month later because it's uncomfortable to ride.
Head to your local bike store and sit on all of the bikes. When you sit on em, keep a couple things in mind. Your legs WILL be cramped. They will get used to that with riding.
When you sit on the bike, put your hands on the bars, but don't put any weight on the bars. Use your legs when you ride a sport bike. When you sit on the bike, your legs supporting most of your bodyweight, and your abs to support your upper torso.
You shouldn't be too stretched out or too compact on the bike, or your back will hurt like hell.
Usually for guys in the 6 foot and up range GSXR and Kawi are a little more comfortable.
Hope this helps.
If you are a starter, start with a 600. Id say used R6, or if you want something weaker go with a bandit 600.
- Would you purchase a 2004 Honda pilot for $6,000.000 that has 216,000 miles on it? I'm just browsing online looking at cars for sale and a lot of them have 200k or more miles on them and they want $4,000 or more. Why do people sale their cars for such a high price with a lot of miles on them? Its not just Hondas its all types of cars private and dealers as well
- Would a 125cc 4 stroke scooter be able to keep up with a 125cc sports bike? I'm thinking of getting a Sym Jet 4 125cc, and my friend rides a Honda CBR 125, we re riding about 3 hours down to the Bulldog Bash, would my scooter be powerful enough to keep up with him? And cruise comfortably at about 60mph? Long and short. How much of an advantage/disadvantage are gears when it comes to acceleration and speed.
- What would be the kind of sports bike apt for a beginner to start-off? I'm new to riding bikes, and I've ridden cruise bikes( I'd like to start-off my sports-bike riding. For now, my options for a beginner's sports bike are a Kawasaki Ninja 300, a Honda CBR250RR and a 600RR. I could afford a budget around 6,000 USD to 7,000 USD. What, according to your opinion and experience, would be a good starter sports bike for a beginner? And what kind of technical know-how and riding skills should I be needing to work on, in order to use one properly?
- Recommend sports bike for 5 foot 3 inch tall person? I will be 16 years of age soon, and currently race with a crf100 (although it is much too small at this point haha) and out and about I drive a crf230l with no trouble. I'm 5'3" and weigh 135lbs. I'm looking into getting a sports bike, and am considering a ninja 300, or a honda cb500f. The ninja 300 seems ideal, but I worry it is too small, and won't do much more than 130kmph. What would you recommend?
