Good beginner motorcycle for a 6 foot 2 guy?

I'm looking at getting a motorcycle. I've looked at the common bikes for beginners such as the Yamaha V Star 250 and the Honda Rebel 250. Though I've read that if you are tall, those bikes aren t a good choice. I'm looking for something relatively cheap and preferably around 250cc (I understand I may have to higher the cc amount since I'm tall). Please give me some suggestions!

Some of the Chinese manufactured bikes do the job but you can always test ride the Japanese manufactured bikes as they're usually manufactured to a higher level standards compared to the Chinese manufactured bikes and are usually more safer - hey you can always buy a second hand bike someone wants to offload in the local newspaper classifieds or in a magazine - you can even check out the online sales sites such as Craigslist or possibly even gumtree

Trail bikes, with tall suspension, are excellent for taller riders.

Eh, no problem. You can get a used 250cc Japanese dual-sport. Tall enough for you, lightweight, easy to ride, fast enough for the freeway, doesn't care when you drop it. What you can get depends on where in the world you are. If you want suggestions, post where you live.

Basic/Bare bike or dual sport. Suzi GS500 or the S40 in the 'street/Boulevard' seat, not the 'cruiser' style.
