How to register a motorcycle that hasn't been registered in 8 years?
I have a 1985 Honda Rebel 250 that was last registered in 2006 in WA. I have the Title and the previous buyer has signed the required fields. Date of Delivery shows 2006… What is the best way to get this registered in CA? Can I avoid all of the back fees? Is it out of the system?
I really don't know California, but in Wisconsin, but if the title is transferring, there isn't any back registration fees due. Even if the owner wants to register the bike after that long, there aren't any back fees if the bike has been unregistered for more than a year. If you're just late in registering, you are responsible for the moths you missed. If it was used exclusively in WA, it likely won't be in the Cali system at all.
Take it to the DMV, if anything is said about the time frame it has been garaged and out of service. They have a form to fill out, certificate of non-operation. You get your Cali title and 2014 registration, done deal.
- Why has my Honda VTX 1300 Motorcycle been overheating ever since I laid it down? I changed the coolant, cleaned the air filter and got a new thermostat but still over heats if I'm sitting at every red light. Will start up after it cools down but always over heats when I idle too long. Any ideas?

- Has anyone registered a motorcycle in California using the Application for Paperless Title form? I'm looking to buy a an old 1980 Honda C70 on Craigslist and the the seller does not have the title. I'm not entirely worried about the bike being stolen and will have the VIN checked before purchase. However there's no title and we will be using this form -http://www.dmv.ca.gov/forms/reg/reg227.pdf with a Bill of Sale. Has anyone actually ever done this? I don't wan to purchase the bike, only to find that there's some requirement to obtain the title with this form…
