I put 87 octane gas in my bike, can I use octane boost to correct the problems it's causing my bike?

Last night I put 87 octane in my 2008 Honda Shadow 750. It started sputtering and stalled out on me twice last night. Can I use octane boost to make it run cleaner and better. Will that help fix the stalling problem as I have always run 93 octane and never had any problems?

Yes, assuming the owner's manual for your bike calls for a higher octane gasoline.

You could try, however I can't guarantee any given octane booster is good for your bike.

Yes you can the only caution is that most octane boosters are for 18-22 gallon tanks so you'll need to consider that when pouring into your tank pre pour 2-3 ounces so you don't "hot shot" your motor as it will bring harmful results make sure to top your tank off with gas a shake your bike vigorously to mix your batch if it doesn't perk up quickly try changing plugs but normally lean run plugs don't fail as commonly as rich run plugs

I don't believe that 87 octane gas directly caused your problem. I'd guess that dirty gas caused it. Check your inline fuel filter. Drop the bowl on your carbs and see if they contain dirt or debris. Low octane gas will give you less performance and fuel mileage, not sputtering and stalling.
BTW: Whenever you pull into a gas station and you see the fuel transport truck filling up the station's fuel tanks, go elsewhere for your gas. The filling process stirs up dirt and debris from the bottom of the tanks and allows it to enter the system. Most stations keep their filters in good shape but some do not change them regularly. The filters have a safety bypass valve when they become clogged. This sets a alarm telling the owner to change the filter. A few owners ignore this alarm or disable it. The filters are somewhat expensive.

Agree with Jeff. If bike requires higher octane per the owners manual, then use it. Just top off with premium now and eventually all the 87 will be gone. Not a tough solution. Octane boost is snake oil. It works, just not in the quantities you buy in a small bottle.
