Is my honda Rebel motorcylce battery dying?
When I ride my motorcylce and squeeze the clutch in, my bike sometimes dies. I can roll on the throttle and press the ignition button and it comes back on but will die again here and there when i hold the clutch. At night I noticed when I squeeze the clutch the light gets dim (before it dies). I did run out of gas and a few weeks ago and noticed this after using the reserves and believed it was sediment in my fuel line. Now i'm not sure.
The battery can be 'load-tested' at a motorcycle shop with the proper equipment.
A weak battery can effect many different working parts because it sucks power away from those parts, best to have it checked.
If battery checks out okay than the next step is to have the recharging system checked, sorta the same but different. (ask if you want details).
It could be any of several things… It obviously has a low idle. Is that causing the bike to quit (the lights will go dim from a low idle)? A bad battery will drag it down too, but if it's that dead, you'd have to jump or kick start it (i know, you don't have one of those).
So, you need to figure out WHAT is causing the low idle condition in order to be able to fix it.
- Should I get an 87 Honda rebel for 1500 or a 15 Honda rebel for 4100? Both will have same insurance rate. I know the older one will have more problems to fix but is cheaper up front while the newer one cost more now but will have less problems in the future. Also in case you are wondering the 87 is a 450cc and the 15 is a 234cc.
- Bought a 1985 Honda inspector kid told me it needed new battery but started with jump got new battery and it was dead next day? Pretty sure its the alternator just wanted some second opinions also I got the bike for 600 dollars you guys think thats a good deal
- Have a 2003 Honda Rebel, won't start (no power) after it rained, I charged the battery, still nothing? Cold end is a little corroded but nothing serious, has been starting up before the rain. Suggestions? And it should be dry.
- If you drove a '95 Honda civic into a tree head on, what are your chances of dying? I feel like it would most likely be instant death because of the sudden stop and you cud slam your head on steering wheel, etc etc.
