Motorcycle for a beginner?

I'm about to begin my basic motorcycle riding lessons and honestly have no idea which motorcycle to purchase -- I'm looking to purchase a used cruiser. Honda Rebel or Kawasaki Vulcan maybe? I'm about 6'00" / 200 lbs.

Kawasaki ninja 300. Its good for beginner.

I have owned a rebel. They are great bikes up to about 45. Although they will travel up to about 65mph they begin to vibrate at about 45 and and don't handle well at highway speed. The Vulcan would be a better choice if you ever plan to ride on the highway.

When I was just getting into riding, I wasn't sure if I wanted sports or cruisers. I ended up going down the sport route, but not without doing some digging into cruisers.

Some of my starting cruisers that I looked at were:

Honda Spirit 750
Honda Shadow 750
Yamaha V-Star 650
Kawasaki Vulcan 750
Suzuki Boulevard C50
Triumph Bonneville

Those are all kind of a middleweight cruisers. You could do the 500cc or 250cc cruisers, but honestly, I think unless you are a very small person, they are kind of a waste. The Honda Rebel is an awesome bike as a trainer, but moreso as an entry level for a smaller male or woman.

Unlike sports bikes where power is your problem, cruisers problem is the weight. So learning how to control low speed maneuvers with a potentially 600+ lbs machine.

That is why sport bikes should start in the 250-500cc range, but cruisers can easily start in the 650-850cc range.

  • Which motorcycle will be suitable for a beginner with little riding experience? I just recently took the MSF course and got my motorcycle endorsement. I want a bike I can ride for a year or two then eventually move to a cbr600rr. I plan to do some highway riding and computing within town. I'm 6'1 152 pounds, base on what I told you will you recommend the kawasaki ninja 300, the Yamaha R3, or the Honda cbr500r?
  • Which motorcycle should I get for a beginner? I'm planning on buying a motorcycle because I'm turning 16 soon and I need a vehicle to commute to and from school. Which bike is reliable for a starter? Honda CBR 125CC, Yamaha R125, Ninja Kawasaki 250R or other bikes? I'm also in a budget and looking for a bike around $2,000 and will not go over $2500. I'm also 5'11 and 155 LBS.
  • Which is better for a beginner: a Kawasaki ninja 250r or a Honda CBR250R? I'm a beginner and I'm thinking about getting a bike. Please don't tell me to get a 600 or 1000 or whatever. I don't need those. I can do well with a 250. I just want to know what is better in your guys' opinion. Please explain why.
  • What's a good beginner motorcycle? So i want to get my motorcycle license soon, i have never driven a motorcycle in my life so what would be a good bike for beginners? I know how to drive a manual car so getting used to the gear changing shouldn't be to difficult. I was thinking about a Honda cbr300r.
