Sport bike comparable in speed to a Sportster 1200?
I rode a Honda Rebel 250 for a year and a half, it was my starter bike. Grew out of it and sold it to afford a bigger bike. Rode my moms sportster 1200. I personally want a sport bike, but my mom feels like they are to fast (but she would let me have a sportster 1200.) So my question is what sport bikes out there are similar in speed to a sportster 1200 so she would allow it?
Ps: Been looking at the Kawasaki Ninja 650R she approves of it. How does it compare to a sportster 1200 speed wise?
The Ninja 650 is a sporty-standard that hasabout the same power/torque value as a HD 1200 Sportster.
Good choice, fast enough but not too far, so go from there.
A Sporster is not really that fast of a bike. Any 650cc standard should be abut in that class. As Chris said, you don't want a sport bike, you want a 'sporty' bike. The Ninja 650 is great, they're certainly very popular! Or you could look at a Suzuki SV 650, or a Yamaha FZ6R, which is 4-cylinder. There a lot of bikes in that category!
Your rebel 250 is probably pretty close to the Sportster in terms of speed and capability. The sportster is going to out accelerate the rebel and have a bit more speed, but its no sport bike.
- Which bike would be a good first sport bike. Looking at CBR1000/600's and also the yamaha R1/R6? I don't know much about the differences, I know some people are all for Suzuki, Yamaha, Honda, of Kawasaki. Seems that whatever bike someone has, they say its the best. I wish I could just ride all of them and see for myself. Tampa, FL Sam
- Types of motorcycles like Suzuki Marauder / Honda Shadow / Sportster? I'm pretty much only familiar with sport bikes. I like the Marauder and Shadow and Sportster styles of bikes. Any other suggestions similar to them?
- Bike guys. 92 Honda Shadow. 22,000 miles. Asking $1200. Good deal or not? I'm totally new to street bikes, although I've ridden dirtbikes a lot. Just looking for any insights on the bike itself (I've heard they're fun and reliable) and thoughts on the pricing. I'm not looking for websites or anything, I've already done some research. I'm looking for actual experience.
- Is it a good idea to go from a 125cc to a 1200 ducati? I've been riding a Honda 125cc for 3 weeks now and almost getting used to it. Just got my license and i'm thinking about getting this used ducati 1200cc.
