Best synthetic oil for my Honda CBR250R?
I've been using the Mobil 1 Racing 4T 10W-40 motorcycle oil but I'm looking to switch to Amsoil Metric 10/40 motorcycle oil. They both are the same price. Is the Amsoil a far superior oil?
Amsoil certainly makes quality engine lubricants. However, I'd personally stick with the Mobil 1 product.
There's very little difference between full synthetic oils. You can just to go with what's cheaper. Mobile 1 is usually around the same price if you get a good sale anyway. The oil filter is what you should focus on upgrading if anything. Try a K&N http://www.knfilters.com/oil_filter/honda_cbr250r.aspx
On a street bike, any all-synthetic is more then enough to do the job. Same with a street car…
Amsoil is good stuff but so is the Mobil 1. Been using Mobil 1 for 20 yrs.
As long as you stay with synthetic you should be fine, switching to semi-synthetic or regular is not recommended.
8=D
Are you unhappy with the feel of the clutch? So, why switch?
You can try Motul 7100 4T 10W40 fully synthetic
or the Motul 300V Factory Line 10W40 fully synthetic
for maximum performance
2011 Harley Davidson V-Rod. I only use Amsoil 20W50 full synthetic oil.
The only reason that I use synthetic oil in the bike is because it has a higher revving engine and tends to run hot. Also, the engine oil and transmission oil, are the same oils.
Few motorcycles last long enough for the oil to be an issue.
" Is the Amsoil a far superior oil?" No. A laboratory chemical analysis would find very little difference.
Same price? Quite possibly the same oil.
Honda last I knew did not recommend synthetic
because they have a wet clutch, the synthetic is that much more slipper that it makes the clutch sliup
- Why do people get mad over the fact that their cars require full synthetic oil? I work as a mechanic and found some people do not like the fact 2010 and up toyotas and Hondas and almost all 2014 cars and European cars require full synthetic oil. A majority of the anger comes towards toyotas and Hondas. Despite me explaining the increased intervals, they still get angered at the fact. Is it just me or does less time doing oil changes that save you more money in the long run end up coming out cheaper despite the increased price and why would they be angry saving money?
- Is going from synthetic oil in my '03 HOnda Hybrid to regular oil bad? Over 100K miles, always used synthetic oil. Took the car to my mechanic to have brakes checked, and he thought the oil looked dirty so he drained it and put in regular oil. Now I'm concerned about my engine. Advice please? I do not know what kind of regular oil he put in.
- I want to put synthetic oil in my outboard motor? I bought a small outboard motor from a friend a 5 horse, power Honda, I need to change the oil and want to use synthetic oil,(I plan to keep it for a while)has anyone used it in a outboard motor? I'm an occasional boater i'm looking for pro's and con I guess thanks
- Is OW20 the standard for synthetic oil? I recently purchased a car; it's the first I've ever owned that uses synthetic oil (Honda Civic 2015). My previous cars all used conventional oil. This car uses OW20. When I go to schedule an oil change, do I have to specify this particular type of oil? Or is this oil the standard anyway when I say that I want synthetic oil?
