What is the purpose/pro/cons of stretching and lowering a sportbike?

I'm looking at bikes and found a really nice Honda CBR 600 but it is stretch and lowered and I'm wondering what this effects.

The handling. Stretching a bike is purely for drag racing. Anyone who rides around the street on one is just being a wan ker. The bike won't go around corners

The longer the wheelbase the less likely it will be to wheelie during hard acceleration, it will also improve the stability in a straight line.

But CBR600s are designed to go round corners take that away and you are left with a compromised bike that is neither fish nor fowl.

Lowering the saddle is to allow shorter riders to sit on the bike and reach the floor.

Putting it back to standard is normally possible, but not cheap. Much better value to find one in original condition.

  • Old honda goldwing pros and cons? I'm looking to buy a honda goldwing and I have a low budget which means the bike that I get will have an age between 1990-2001. Can anybody envisage any outstanding problems to watch out for? Should the mileage on the bike be more important to me than the age or vice versa?
