What size motorcycle should I get next?
So I've had my Honda rebel for about 2 years now and am wanting to move up. First off I'm a very small woman, I'm 5 3" and weigh around 120 lbs. My boyfriend is worried I can't handle a big bike and I'm just looking for someone a bit more knowledgeable on the subject. He doesn't want me to get anything bigger, but I feel I'm ready. Any thoughts?
Harley Davidson has bikes with low seats just for women. And they're powerful.
How many thousands of miles equals 2 years?
What kind of bike do you want, what will you be doing on it? You will need to answer this before you can really make the choice. However that choice will be limited by your height, even though you do not need to get both feet flat, it does inspire confidence.
Suzuki S40 -- weighs just 50 pounds more than your Rebel, same physical size, a 652cc single cylinder "Thumper" that is wickedly quick and cruises comfortably at 75 mph, tops out over 85.
Don't listen to your Boyfriend, listen to… Wait for it… YOURSELF.
I had a Suzuki 50HP GS500 which was heck of a fun at first, but I grew tired of it after 3 years and replaced it with a 100HP VFR. Rebel 250 is around 20HP… So… I can understand your pain, lass.
Try looking up Suzuki S40 / Savage 650. Its a single so means one less cylinder to worry about and they're pretty cheap in used market. If you must have two cylinders, look up Kawasaki Vulcan 500/800/900/S, Shadow 650/750/CTX700, Yamaha V-Star 650/950, Suzuki S50/M50, Harley Davidson Street 500/750/Sportster 883, Triumph America/Speedmaster, Hyosung GV650/ST7.
There're few others which I don't remember at the moment but that's a start…
Go around to as many motorcycle dealers, used and new, as you can, and sit on as many motorcycle as you can. Make notes on them. Likes, dislikes, etc and start narrowing down your choices. Some dealerships allow test rides, especially on used bikes. Ride the ones you really like and feel you could be comfortable on.
I know many height challenged people, male and female who ride anything and everything. As long as they can get one foot or toe down, they are fine. Yes, most of them have had parking lot drops because of that, but it's part of the equation when you have short legs and want to ride motorcycles.
- I'm selling my 50mpg car. What car should I get next? I'm selling my Honda Civic that gets 50mpg on the freeway due to it being too cramped. What car should I get next: 1. Honda Element 2. Honda CR-V 3. Honda Odyssey 4. Honda Fit 5. Toyota Sienna
- Which bike should I move up to next? I have been riding a 2007 ninja 250 for 3 years now. I like the bike but its carbureted and a ***** to warm up. Its also slow so I would like to move to something a bit faster and nicer. I'm 5'4", female, not too crazy about speed, but I want something that sounds loud, and looks nice. I was thinking a honda cbr600 or gsxr 600, or zx6-r, nothing bigger then a 600, thats plenty of power. Which bike should I get next?
- What size dirt bike should I get? I want to buy a dirtbike. I don't know what size I should get though. I'm 5'4 and 120 pounds. I know how to ride a dirtbike I've had one before. I don't want one to small or way to big. I was thinking like a Honda XR100 or yamaha TTR125 or suzuki DRZ125 Are those to small? Those 3 dirtbikes the seat heights are a few inches below my waist. I think that's to small. What dirtbike do you think would be good for me?
- What size dirt bike should a 153lb 6 1 14yr old get? I'm 14 and I'm 6 1 153lbs owned a 2007 kx125 2 stroke and an older Honda 90 when I was 11 back in 2012 and sold it mostly because I wanted something bigger. I feel very comfortable on dirt bikes and I'm very fit for my age mostly cause I have moved furniture since I was 6. But I'm just looking for something to trail ride and do some jumps on! Any suggestions are appreciated!
