What type of Dual Sport will last on the freeway?

Well I want a Dual Sport bike for commuting to work and other places. I was thinking about the 2015 Honda CRF250L but I heard that on the freeway it starts to have a little trouble when hitting 60-65. Now I will be riding the freeway quite a bit since that's how I get to work. So I need help on figuring out which bike is best for me. Also I'm 6'2 and about 260pounds. Please help me and my love handles finding a perfect bike.

Something like a KTM 650. It's not that a smaller bike can't go that fast, it can, but it's just not going to be as stable and confidence-inspiring as a 650. 650cc is not too big to start on, in fact dual sports are often used as primary trainers because they are light and relatively simple.

The only problem is that they have longer suspension travel so they tend to be pretty tall, but this is not going to be a problem for you. If you're going to be freeway riding, I'd recommend looking at the Suzuki DR 400S or the Honda XR 650L. A 250 will get you down the highway, but there won't be any power to spare and you'll be working the heck out of the engine. Invest in a lot of oil if you'll be doing that. For someone your size, you'd look like a Shriner in a parade on a 250 anyway.

  • Which dual sport should I get? I'm looking at getting a dual sport bike so I can drive on and off road (my friend and I hit the trails a lot but I want something for the city too). I like Yamahas and Hondas, and could care less for Suzuki and Kawasaki. I want one that would handle more difficult trails/hills, so I'm thinking something among the line of the DRZ400/440 or the XR650 (the 250 might be a bit small), but I'm interested in your opinions/recommendations.
  • I want a enduro dual sport but I'm having seat height issues? I want to buy a dual sport and I was looking at a honda crf250l because of the reliability and ratings and longetivity. The only problem with it is the seat height is 34.7 inches and it's too tall. My height needed is about 32.9 inches. Does anyone have any suggestions?
  • Does a dual yoshimura exhaust have different sized holes just like on a stock CRF250R? I own a 2006 Honda CRF250R bike which has dual exhaust which comes stock on the bike. For the stock dual, the left exhaust has a slightly bigger hole than the right because of making even airflows. MY QUESTION IS: I want to buy a dual Yoshimura from motosport.com, i'm not sure if they have different sized holes just like stock. And if they don't, does it make a difference?
  • Are sport bikes a lot slower than super sport? I used to have a honda cbr250 but sold it to pay for college. I want to get another bike after I graduate. I was looking at the Honda Cbr500R and the Honda 600RR. Obviously the super sport has a 100cc bigger engine, but is it a lot faster than the 500R? Even more so than you would expect with the 100cc increase due to gear ratio's etc etc?
