Why are their more Honda motorcycles sold than Kawasaki's & Yamaha?

When the zx9r came out their were still more fireblades sold even though the zx9r was faster? And it was the same thing with the yamaha R1. Even now Kawasaki's and/or Yamaha still seem to have a little bit more horse power so why would people buy Hondas over Yamaha and Kawasaki?

Added (1). it Can't BE because they are cheaper because harley davidjsons sell more and are more expensive which is fact

Because only posers ride Kows and Yams.

They are cheaper.

Because power and speed are not the only criteria used by people to decide what to buy - if they were then there would be loads more Hyabusas, Blacbirds, ZZR14s etc around than there are as these are all more powerfull than the litre class sportsbikes

Number one reason (and hp and speed aren't the primary reasons) Reliability

Good question-
Owned 4 Honda's, 8 Yamaha's and only one Kawie.
Have also owned 2 Husky's, 4 Triumph's, a Greeves, a Sachs, a Ducuti and see if you can remember Hodaka.

PS- Forget the 2 BMW's, LOL!

Honda has the greatest quality control.
Their sportbikes are more street orientated and rider friendly, whereas the other manufactures try to squeeze out every last bit of HP, which lowers their dependability.
AND they offer a larger selection of models.

Model selection, dealer network, parts dept. A better 'balance' is many marketing areas. Newer riders can get a Rebel or a Shadow from Honda, then get a Goldwing or some kind of crotch rocket--and find a dealer almost anywhere in country. Suzi, Kaw, Yamaha have some minor gaps in dealer network, a few minor model shortages one way or the other in some dealerships-- but if you took sale of Honda compared to total sales of the other 3 with model splits, you'd likely find similar sales for dealer in areas- Just likely to be a extra Honda dealer

You think that Harleys sell more bikes than Honda? In which universe?

Reliability

I have owned 1999 Honda CBR 600 F4, 2003 Triumph Speed Triple 955i, 2002 Suzuki GSX-R 600, and my current 2001 Honda RC-51.

PERSONALLY, I find Honda's to be much more comfortable for me than Kawis and Yamahas. The 2000 Yamaha R6 is the first sport bike I ever sat on and was the bike I instantly fell in love with. I had a friend who's older brother had one along with his best friend. As a result, every party they had, I snuck into the garage and sat on their bikes. That said, the new R6 design does nothing for me and the R1s are way too expensive.

Kawis have style and there are plenty I like. I like the old ZX10-R (the bubbly design) and many others, but the seats are so firm that I could never see it as a bike I actually wanted. Of course, I say that with an RC-51 in my garage which is arguably one of the most uncomfortable bikes ever made. But, that said, next point…

Honda has the most experience being on the front line of innovation. Without Honda paving the way in the race world, the other companies would be light years behind. Most huge swings in the sport bike world were started with advances made or inspired by Honda. While others were making stylistically advanced bikes, Honda was putting race bikes on the street.

Honda is also a quality product when it comes to motorcycles. Look how many classic CBs are still on the road. Browse craigslist and see.
