Why isn't my 1989 honda vtr 250 getting a spark?
I just bought a 1989 honda vtr 250 it has a strong crank like it wants to start but won't start. The battery was bad so I had to use a bigger battery from my dad's motorcycle and it would crank stron but still nothing. We took out the spark plug and put it in the wire and held it near frame and no spark at all while cranking, could it be a bad ignition coil, rectifier, or stator or what?
Could it be a bad ignition coil, rectifier, or stator or what? Yes it could be any of those things, Check the ignition fuse first
To test for spark the plugs has to be grounded. If the plug threads aren't actually touching the metal(the head is the best spot to lay it) you won't get spark.

- Why isn't the Honda City available in North America? When I visit India, I see a lot of Honda City cars on the roads. I was just wondering why it's not available in North America
- Where should I start in getting my 1989 Honda VTR250 to run again? It was running when it was stored 10 years ago. I want to get it running again. Battery is an obvious but where should I start? Do you think it will need any major/ expensive repairs? I've been told it should easily get running with a bit of work, what exactly does that mean?
- Why isn't my 1995 Honda Civic starting? I have a 95 Honda Civic that only starts SOMETIMES. I noticed there's a subtle clicking noise that NEEDS TO HAPPEN before I turn the car on and it does this inconsistently. It's not the battery since I just replaced it. In order for me to turn the car on I have to turn the key back and forth until that clicking noise happens then it turns on. What is it?
