Will my Honda Rebel 250 handle an hour on the highway at 60/65mph?
I just had my truck tires stabbed by one of the wild 10 year old kids that roam my neighborhood. Now I need to ride my motorcycle to work. I'm not a big fan of highway riding. It's scary and I don't want to die. Anyway, the question is - will my little Honda Rebel 250 handle going 65 for an hour continuously? I know it's not meant for high speeds and is more of a little put putter.
It will do just fine, if you don't like the freeway just stay in the far right slow lane. The bike can handle the speed.
Yes, I run my 250cc scooter at 70mph all the time.
Avatar Zak, Sorry about your tire damage Your motorcycle can get up to speed, but based on your read, if you are so afraid of driving it, I would suggest that you go at highway minimum speed (usually 40 mph) . There's no use to go "push" the bike and your nerves just to get no where fast.
If you are in a hurry, and primarily interested in using alternative transportation to get somewhere because of a downed truck,( considering) , you might consider getting a friend to drive you (or the bad kid's parents).
Youll b ok
Question: Will my Honda Rebel 250 handle an hour on the highway at 60/65mph?
Answer: HELL YES!
I'm riding a wimpy Vespa LX150 and I ride 60-65 mph on the Interstates, 100+ miles non-stop.
A Rebel 250 is loafing, cruising at 60-65 mph. It top over 75 mph.
A 330 pound Rebel is also a hell a lot stable than my 245 pound scooter with it's 10"-11" wheels.
I took my 250 dual sport on a ride for a hour and it handled just fine. 60 mph would be best tho. It won't sound stressed as much and will keep the vibes low
I'd just take an alternate route/county highways and leave a hour/half hour early.
For a quick tire, get a used one at a junk yard, $35 mounted where I live.
Should be fine. The engine size effects acceleration more than top speed, because there really is not much wind resistance. Helps to keep low. Put a foam pad on the gas tank, and lean down on it. Just keep the rpm within reasonable range. Up to 5500 rpm.
- My wife's but is too big for the backseat of of my Honda Rebel 250? How to make a bigger backseat? My wife finds the backseat of my 2006 Rebel uncomfortably small. I've searched the internet to see if they make a larger option, but I haven't found anything. Is there a larger backseat I can buy? I'm considering building my own. I have foam and vinyl, but I need to think of a material to make a sturdy, seat-shaped frame piece that I could attach the vinyl to. Any ideas?
- What is the squeaky noise on my 2009 honda rebel CMX 250 when I start the first time (it then goes away). What could this be? I have a Honda Rebel CMX 250 and it makes a weird horn / belt slipping like noice only in the morning when the first try to start the engine. What could this be?
- Should I get an 87 Honda rebel for 1500 or a 15 Honda rebel for 4100? Both will have same insurance rate. I know the older one will have more problems to fix but is cheaper up front while the newer one cost more now but will have less problems in the future. Also in case you are wondering the 87 is a 450cc and the 15 is a 234cc.
