Would a 125cc 4 stroke scooter be able to keep up with a 125cc sports bike?
I'm thinking of getting a Sym Jet 4 125cc, and my friend rides a Honda CBR 125, we re riding about 3 hours down to the Bulldog Bash, would my scooter be powerful enough to keep up with him? And cruise comfortably at about 60mph?
Long and short. How much of an advantage/disadvantage are gears when it comes to acceleration and speed.
Your friend's CBR should be able to cruise along at slightly higher speed than your scooter and you'll be hard pressed to maintain 60mph for 3 hours of riding so you either ask your friend to ride slower or take a bus.
As for the quickness you could probably out speed that CBR for about 30-35 feet and than it's catch-up-city for the rest of the day.
Above is an advantage to the gears.
I found one site that claims the Jet 4 has 8.7 bhp. http://motorbikeleasingmadesimple.com/motorbike-leasing/sym/jet-4-125/11313/technical-data/
Wiki claims the CBR has 13 bhp. http://en.wikipedia.org/...da_CBR125R
I ride a Vespa LX150, 11.7 bhp, I can touch 68 mph, cruise comfortably at 60 mph.
Wind is wind, all that matters is how much horsepower it takes to push through the wind. I know I can do 65, 68 with a slight down grade.
At 8.7 bhp your Jet 4 should be able to do 59 mph, will be cruising 55 mph if it is lucky.
A 13 bhp CBR should be able of 72 mph, cruising comfortable at 65 mph.
No it will get to about 50mph cbr will do about 65mph and I don't think there's any disadvantages to gears maybe buying oil but that's about it any geard bike will accelerate faster than a moped
They're both restricted to I think 14hp. So it depends on tyre pressures and frontal area for flat out straight line speed and the rider and suspension/handling on bends.
Neither one is going to comfortably do 60 mph. You'd be lucky to get them to do that speed if dropped out of an airplane.
Surely it could:
i've got one of the first peugeot lxr 125cc scooters, made under liscense by sym.
-it nearly can run 71mph (with using a windshield) and has 11,4 kw.
Appendix:
-i mean the sym hd & the peugeot lxr 125cc.same engine with 4-stroke and 4 valves.watercooled.
-the jet 4 has an 2 valve aircooled engine.
The actual models quoted- the little sports bike has a 10 to 15 mph advantage in practical top speed, a 10mph advantage in practical cruising speed. As for keeping up? If you both decide to maintain 55mph then it can maintain position at cruise, fall behind a bit when passing slow moving cars with trailers doing 45 to 50. Both going for simple joy ride to destination, enjoy the ride and stop about every hour to stretch, gas up and potty break. Obvious you're a new rider, the scooter is a good choice for new rider so learn to avoid fat pedestrians with right of way/weight and watch for traffic, left turners and sand/oil slicks at stop lights. Next year or so can look at a bigger SYM or a Suzi Burhgman. Have fun, take a rain coat and water bottle with you on the rides
- What would be the kind of sports bike apt for a beginner to start-off? I'm new to riding bikes, and I've ridden cruise bikes( I'd like to start-off my sports-bike riding. For now, my options for a beginner's sports bike are a Kawasaki Ninja 300, a Honda CBR250RR and a 600RR. I could afford a budget around 6,000 USD to 7,000 USD. What, according to your opinion and experience, would be a good starter sports bike for a beginner? And what kind of technical know-how and riding skills should I be needing to work on, in order to use one properly?
- What would be the best bike for me a yahama yz, Honda cr, Suzuki rm or a Kawasaki kx I want 125cc? - What scooter is best for commuting in London on daily basis? 125cc vs 300cc? I like the Honda PCX 125 and also the Honda Forza 300. I do not know which one to buy. I wonder if 125cc is enough or if I should go for the 300cc. New or 2nd hand? I also have seen the Honda Forza 125 and I wonder if it is worth it. The PCX seems to be very good value for money (maintenance and running costs), however it is small size in comparison with the Forza 300 (obviously at a higher cost). Any suggestions?
- Is the honda 250r four stroke or two stroke? So i've found out that r stands for race… Most other bikes have either f or t for two stroke or four. So is the honda 250 a four stroke or a two stroke bike? Or is it neither?
