Would I need a motorcycle license to drive a Honda Metropolitan scooter in Florida?
I've been looking into getting one. I also looked up the rules for scooters/mopeds in Florida, but it was a little confusing and I think the scooter I want surpassed some of the maximum requirements for being classified as a scooter/moped.

A Honda Metropolitan is NOT a 316.003(77) "Moped"… Not in excess of 2 brake horsepower and not capable of grater (sic) than 30 miles per hour on level ground.
A Honda Metropolitan IS a 316.003(22) "Motorcycle"… A seat or saddle for the use of the rider… Not more than three wheels… Excluding a tractor or a moped.
Hence, a Honda Metropolitan titled and registered as a motorcycle.
However, Definitions for Driver Licenses:
322.01(25) "Motorcycle" means a motor vehicle powered by a motor with a displacement of more than 50 cubic centimeters.
Hence, while you do need a driver's license, you do not need a motorcycle driver's license.
The Honda CHF50 Metropolitan is a motorcycle capable of 40 mph.
The Honda CHF50P Metropolitan-II is a moped not capable of over 30 mph.
- Why is my 2006 Honda Metropolitan cutting out at full throttle? When I give my moped full throttle and open it up all the way it just sounds bogged down plus the acceleration is terrible and I have to gradually give it has very slowly. We replaced the air cleaner, fuel filter, coolant, oil, put premium gas in it and also purchased some injector cleaner but it still does this. We thought it was the fuel filter but it hasn't changed it (very much). Any help is appreciated thanks in advance!
- Scooter Frame transfer from Florida to Texas? So I'm looking into buying a front frame off a honda metropolitan to swap it with a damaged ruckus frame. The front frame is what has the vin number on it. The frame is from Florida and comes with a title but I live in Texas. How would I transfer the title from Florida to Texas?
- My 2006 Honda Metropolitan Moped is not running right? When I slowly give my moped gas it runs fine until I hit about full throttle, then it like starts to bog down, its hard to explain but we think its a carburetor problem. Due to the previous owner taking off then air cleaner for an unknown amount of time. If you can give me tips/advice I'd appreciate it.
- Honda Ruckus, 49 cc, in florida, do I need a motorcycle license? Ok so, I'm 15, and I have a Honda ruckus. I've never been a fan of scooters, and I'm still not, but I drive the ruckus to ease my mothers mind, before I eventually get a motorcycle. Do I need to take a course and get a motorcycle license to drive a 49 cc scooter? I understand that there are differences between a 50CC bike and a 49CC when it comes to the laws.
