My 1986 Honda xr100r is not getting no spark?
My 1986 Honda xr100r is not getting no spark?
That's a 33 year old dirt bike. Take it to a repair shop and have it looked at.
Check the coil.
Your English lesson for the day- Two negitive adverbs sorta means a positive.
Clean the coil wire input connection to the spark plug and have a new properly gapped plug installed.
Might (if you have a multimeter) check the voltage level from the coil.
If it's not getting "no spark" that means it's getting spark.
Check the plug, plug cap, coil, points, battery leads, fuses. All the wires from end to end
Plug, wire, coil, wiring.
Check in that order.
A bike that old may have a magneto ignition or points. Do you know? Have you looked in an online shop manual? Like wow… Thou dost proceed from ignorance. Take the whole ignition system apart, clean all of the connections INCLUDING THE GROUNDS, check the coil / mag windings for continuity, check the spark plug for continuity, look up the words you don't know, and replace the bad stuff. I would put in a new plug and plug wire on general principles, but that's me wanting to maintain it in good condition.

- Why isn't my 1989 honda vtr 250 getting a spark? I just bought a 1989 honda vtr 250 it has a strong crank like it wants to start but won't start. The battery was bad so I had to use a bigger battery from my dad's motorcycle and it would crank stron but still nothing. We took out the spark plug and put it in the wire and held it near frame and no spark at all while cranking, could it be a bad ignition coil, rectifier, or stator or what?
- I have a 2002 Honda xr100r and I want to upgrade the suspension so I can hit bigger jumps. What should I get? I want more suspension than the dirt bike came with and I want to spend the least amount of money possible.
- 30 and riding a Honda XR100R? An XR100R is a dirt bike. Mainly known for a starter bike for teenagers. It's also known for an adult trail riding bike because it's easy to maneuver. My last post was misunderstood. I wasn't making fun of anyone for riding on. I'm the one riding it lol I was simply asking if it might look weird to other people that a 5' 7" guy is riding around on a 100. It's smaller than the average dirt bike that adults ride. That's my question
