My honda 2001 honda 400ex started smoking and lost alot of power?
It smokes pretty badly like a 2 stroke and doesn't have power like it used to. Could it just be the head gasket it does have a litte oil around it? Or could it be more serious valves and rings?
Or a hole in the piston? Does the smoke smell like oil? I can't remember but I think they are air cooled.
You will not know exactly what is wrong until you pull it apart. You more than likely have worn cylinders or a broken ring. Sound like a complete overhaul is in order.
When did this happen? How did this happen?
It could be that you simply OVER filled your crankcase… Or worse. If your rings are bad, you would lose compression, oil would get past them, the engine would foul etc.
No problem, sounds like your oscillation adjustment screw came loose, tighten it back up and you should be good to go.
Time for a compression test, bore scope into cylinder. Burned valves, zero valve lash, broken rings are possible moderat cost, higher labor repairs- holed piston is a more expensive repair.
- Prius: Can someone explain the power usage meter & specific difference between power mode and Eco mode? My brother just got me a Prius to replace my old beater Honda and I'm having difficulty understanding the power usage meter (meter on dash with "Charge-Eco-Power") and the difference in the Eco & Power modes. I do understand the charge bit on the meter.
- Our 2006 honda odyssey lost acceleration/power and was towed? Was towed. On first start now, it starts for 1 second and immediately turns off. On second start, it only whines like a flooding sound. The engine light is on. The van is stranded. Please let me know where to start. What do these symptoms mean? What are the signs of a bad egr valve? It it air or fuel intake? Spark plugs are fairly new. Starter is fairly new. Our budget is very small.
- My 2000 honda civic was smoking? Yesterday I showed my mom the engine. (Which was a mistake). She pulled out the oil reader thing and it came out. However we managed to put it back on there. Today however, I was driving and I noticed my car was smoking. The engine is clean and whatnot but when I opened the good to see it, It was smoking in the air the oil reader was. Now the weird thing is my engine reader was on co the whole time.
- 95 Honda civic, just started to put and engine would shake every time I accelerate and when AC is on? Yesterday my car drove perfect then today I started it and just when I got on the road it started to shake so I turned off the AC. Then it ran better but once I give it gas it starts to shake again, but if I'm not in gear I can rev it up and there's no shaking just sounds like it runs great. Anyone know what could be causing this problem?
