Older ones used a speedometer cable. Newer ones are electrical.

You have a Vehicle Speed Sensor (VSS) that bolts up behind the top of the engine. It sends a signal to your Speedometer. There's a 3 wire plug and wiring harness. Make sure the wiring and plug isn't damaged. If it's OK, you'll need to buy a new VSS, they're around $15.

Hi so time to take it to the car dealer to get it fixed.

Can it achieve over 100 mph? I've heard that it can do 1-10 but I'm not sure whether that's for the 5 speed or the automatic bc the extra gear makes a difference in my opinion.

  • Why don't my windshield wipers work on high speed? I have a 92 Honda Civic Si and i'm having a problem with my front wipers, sometimes they work, sometimes they get stuck and sometimes they don't work at all. They only move when i turn the off button. I changed the motor and its doing the same thing. Could it be the linkage?
