Choppy, hesitant acceleration in 1995 Honda Odyssey?

This problem has been going on for about a month now. Frequently, when I accelerate from a complete stop or speed up after I get going the motor does accelerate smoothly. It will be sort of a choppy acceleration. Once I reach the speed I want the car runs and sounds very smooth without any choppiness. What could be wrong? Injectors? Spark Plugs? Ignition coil or wires?

Mileage? The issue sounds like misfires under load which could just be due to worn out plugs /wires, cap/rotor or dirty injectors that have poor spray patterns. Any check engine light? Could be due to various issues but given the age of the vehicle and if overdue, I'd start by doing a tuneup to get a baseline for any future testing if still needed… Replace plugs, wires, cap, rotor, fuel/air filters, PCV, etc. And test drive after that. Run some Seafoam or Techron in the fuel tank per label directions for a couple tanks to clean injectors… They may still require better cleaning or testing. Try using a Top Tier brand of fuel if you have poor quality gas in the area… Top Tier brands contain more detergents to keep fuel system clean and reduce harmful deposits which can affect engine operation. Check for any vacuum leaks which might be causing a misfire or lean condition… Loose, cracked, split vacuum hoses, etc… With engine idling and warmed up, spray some carb cleaner around vacuum hoses, connections or TB or intake manifold sealing areas, if idle rpm's alter or rise, that indicates a vacuum leak… Repair as needed.new hose or gaskets, etc. Would also be a good idea to do a compression test of the cylinders when changing plugs to see if any are out of spec… Could be a related issue.

  • Our 2006 honda odyssey lost acceleration/power and was towed? Was towed. On first start now, it starts for 1 second and immediately turns off. On second start, it only whines like a flooding sound. The engine light is on. The van is stranded. Please let me know where to start. What do these symptoms mean? What are the signs of a bad egr valve? It it air or fuel intake? Spark plugs are fairly new. Starter is fairly new. Our budget is very small.
  • 1995 Honda Magna vs 1995 Honda VFR 750? Which is better at -top speed -acceleration -do you think the top two matter? -driving pleaser (if you know) -sound (if you know) -reliability I'm looking to get one of these two but I'm not sure which one. I feel like I love these two motorcycles equally so do I get the cheaper one that I can find?
  • 2012 Honda Civic slow acceleration? Last Sunday I bought a 2012 Honda Civic LX Coupe. My first car that I'm financing all on my own and I love it, but I've noticed that it seems a little slow to accelerate. My last car was an '03 Accord with a V6 and I'm not sure if I'm just still used to driving a car that's so fast or if I should be concerned. Everything besides that runs perfectly, its just that one thing. Has anyone else experienced this or know anything about it?
  • 2003 Honda acceleration issue I'm thinking of buying a 2003 Civic. It takes a moment after I hit the gas to start accelerating. Once it's going, it's fine. What might it be? Not a Honda guy, but I can fix it once I know where to start. Has had the plugs replaced not too long ago. The vehicle has 125k on it, but has been maintained pretty well. Any help would be appreciated.
