Clutch bleeding problem?

I have been trying to do the gravity bleeding method for a while now and I press the clutch in and fluid comes out but it stops and does not continuously drip… What can I be doing wrong?

For <$50 you can buy a mityvac and save yourself a lot of headache. Vacuum bleeding hydraulic systems is so much easier - air is always sucked back up the tube when the pressure is released (this is why you put the bleeder side port tube in a jar of hydraulic fluid - MityVac eliminates all that nonsense though

Bad line?

You do not step on the clutch when doing gravity bleeding. Remove the old fluid with a turkey baster and put fresh fluid. Connect a clear hose to the bleeder valve then open the bleeder valve about 1/2 turn and just let the fluid drain. Make sure there's fluid on the clutch reservoir at all times. You are done when clear new fluid and no bubbles comes out of the clear hose. Close the bleeder valve and top off the fluid if required.

The only way to bleed a clutch is to have 2 people doing it. One to work the clutch pedal and the other to open and close the bleeder screw.FAST. You wan t to close the bleeder screw before the stream of fluid stops.
Don't pump the clutch pedal like you do when bleeding brakes. Just push the pedal down once and pull it back up with your hand. Then wait for 10 seconds and push the clutch pedal all the way to the floor. Then open and close the bleeder screw fast. It takes a good dozen repetitions. Keep topping up the fluid reservoir so you don't suck air. Air bleeding never gets all the air out.

  • Why is my clutch pedal staying on the floor and doesn't spring back up? I have a 92 Honda Prelude Si and I just changed the clutch on it. But now my clutch pedal has no pressure, I'll press the pedal and the pedal will stay down but won't spring back up at all. I already changed the Slave Cylinder. What's going on?
  • NEED GO CART CONVERTED FROM BELT CLUTCH TO CHAIN DRIVEN CLUTCH? I have a 2 seated carter go cart with a 5.5 Honda motor and is belt driven. I'm wanting to convert it to a chain driven system but need to know how. The frame is chain driven but the clutch is belt driven how do I convert the clutch to a chain drive system.
  • Hydraulic motorcycle clutch problems? I recently bought an 82 honda magna v45. The clutch level has no pressure, therefore won't engage. I tried bleeding it for almost an hour but bubbles just keep coming. Went through a whole bottle of fluid and can't build any pressure. Any idea what's wrong? Any advice will be appreciated
  • How to keep my motorcycle clutch from burning out? I bought a Honda CBR500R for my first bike. I was riding over the bridge and I hit the clutch to help me get over it. I ended up getting more revs than acceleration after that. I called Cycle Center the next day and they said I had burnt out my clutch because I used it too much. Now it's going to take a week before they order the parts. I feel like riding the clutch is a habit. But I HAVE to use it to get out of parking. Any help?
