OBD1 cylinder head on OBD2 block?
So I have a 97 Honda Accord with the F22b2 motor, it is obd2. Can I swap out my head for the F22b6 head from a 95 Odyssey that is obd1, and not have to worry about any rewiring or cutting or creating electricial problems down the road.
Is it just plug and play or do minor modifications need to be made to get it to perform properly?
Hi any modifications will need the engine managements system changing.
If you use all your stock OBDII electronics, sensors, wiring, et cetera, it should work. You may have to drill and tap a few holes if the OBDI head wasn't equipped with sensors the OBDII head had, but that's not as scary as it sounds.
The OBDII computer's stock programming should be flexible enough to compensate for the difference in airflow between the stock cam and the more aggressive one. 10hp isn't that much of a difference. The MAF sensor will measure the air going into the engine, and the fuel injectors will pump more fuel to compensate.
Just treat the OBDI head like it was a stock OBDII replacement, and put everything together like a stock 1997 Accord.
