Just bought a new Honda, when should the first oil change be done?

Just bought a new Honda Pilot. Owner's manual says it comes with a special break-in oil from the factory but no mention of the mileage it should be changed.

So when should I change it?

Keep reading the manual and follow the oil change interval as specified in the manual.

Now

It says in there somewhere… Is there a separate Maintenance Book?

Break in oil bs if you want that car to last a long time change that oil and filter every 3000 miles if you do short trips stop and go driving now if you drive it 25 miles to work and back you can increase the milage between oil changes to what it says in your owners manual

I'd change the oil at 2,000 miles and then every 3,000 miles if using regular oil or every 5,000 miles if using synthetic oil. Don't go by the in dash oil change reminder. That goes too long. The motor will make it through the warranty period but you'll start burning oil more for the rest of the motor's life and have to add oil constantly.

If it does have break in oil, change it at 500 miles.

When the oil is darker than dark drown. Mileage is not reliable way to tell.

The newer cars don't need a oil change until you are 6,000 miles. People will tell you to do it sooner but you don't have too
