My car ac went out. I took it to the dealer and they told me it was the ac cmpressor relay and ac clutch relay. A few weeks later my air is?

Coming out very hot i take it back to the dealer and the diagnostic is ac clutch and coils need replacing. I'm juat trying to know if this is the same thing ac clutch and ac clutch relay. I just don't want to pay for the same things. I have a 2011 honda pilot any help appreciated

Hi help only comes now when you pay for it by having parts replaced.

It's very rare for a relay to be the problem when an AC system quits working. On a vehicle of your age it's more likely the 134a refrigerant has leaked out over time. Running the AC a few times in the Winter months helps keep the rubber seals lubricated and slows down the change of leaks.
It's hard to believe a dealer mechanic would have a problem repairing your vehicle. Hardly anyone replaces compressor clutches anymore. They usually put a complete rebuilt AC compressor unit on and recharge the system.
If it were my car I'd take the harness connector off of the low pressure switch and jump the wiring harness connector to see if the compressor clutch engages. If it does engage go buy a can of 134a with a sealer in it and charge your system. Put a thermometer in the center vents with the air flow set to them and add 134a until you get 40 degree cold air out of the vents. You may need to add more than one can. I'd only use one can of 134a with the sealer and if you need to add more 134a use just 134a with no additives.

You're not paying for the same parts again. AC compressor relay & ac clutch relay are the same thing. A relay is very cheap, maybe $10. A new clutch assembly would be the next step, they go for around $60-100 while a whole new compressor is $200-250. I would go with just the clutch change, the compressor is still good, why throw money away?
