Should I buy a 2013 car with 100,000 mileage?

May I ask for your advice?

I found a used car registerd in 2013 at a very cheap price. The brand is excellent - we're talking about Honda, Nissan, Mercedes here.

However, its mileage is 100,000.

If you were in my situation, would you think it is worthwhile to buy? How long can that kind of car last?

RUN AWAY… Don't walk away from it…

A 2013 Car with 100,000 miles on it was NOT a Family Car…
It was a Work Vehicle for a Company… Taxi/Messenger Service etc…
So they have to be really hard miles… It is worn out…
Can expect $$$$$$$$$$$ in repairs…

An average Family Car only runs about 12-15,000 miles per year!

100,000 miles./. 52 weeks = 1,924 miles per week 0r
100,000 miles./. 365 days = 274 miles per day…

Sorry but "Honda, Nissan, Mercedes" never made a car together as two are Japanese the other is German. So either you are mistaken with the mileage or you have not found a car as you would say straight away who makes it not give a random list or manufacturers.

Only pay what it would be worth after 10 years (10k/year) which is about 30% of price new

Personally i would not touch it. When you say "at a very cheap price" i suspect that you mean cheap for a one year old car of that particular brand, not 'Cheap' as such. To do such a mileage it has to have been something like a hire car on Airport runs, a Reps car or maybe Sales Managers. Whilst a premium car can put up big miles, like others it needs components other than the engine replaced along the way. Gear box, suspension, steering etc. It is only cheap because no one would buy it otherwise. If it uses' a Timing belt, it should already have been replaced. I would sit down and do some careful sums before you dive in. The average new car loses' around half it's value in the first 3 years as this car has already knocked up about 7 or 8 years average mileage in its first year just what it will be worth as a 3 or 4 year old is any ones guess. Don't just look at 2013 and think wow! Consider what parts of it are already either past their designed service life or approaching it and keep in mind the fact that though it has only been on the road for a year or so it has already got 8 years wear amd tear on most components.

Yes if it was taken care of

No
it's engine is probably ready to fall apart with a mileage like that and its only a years or so old

For the year and mileage it must be motorway miles and that would not put me off at all, still expect to get it at good price though

I've driven well maintained cars for 300,000 miles. If this car was well maintained with regular oil changes and you get it at a good price, the 100000 miles would not scare me. However, go to blue book to get the value of the car so you won't pay too much.

ok very helpful
