Should I have a mechanic inspect the car I'm about to purchase (2009 honda civi hybrid - 52K miles)?
It is at wheels and deals. I do not know if they check out the cars or allow inspections. I know nothing about cars. Should I have a shop inspect it? Or is it okay not to do since I'm buying from wheels and deals and the car has very low miles?
You find a mechanic you TRUST and have them inspect the vehicle, regardless of seller, BEFORE you consider buying.
If the seller doesn't permit your own mechanic to inspect the vehicle, consider it a sign that you should not buy the vehicle at all, no matter how good of a deal it seems to be.
You ALWAYS should have a mechanic inspect the car. Since you know nothing about cars, this is even more important.
Get it inspected. Would you recognize an odometer that has been rolled back? Know if the CV joint boots are cracked? Have the equipment to check out the internal computer codes? Me neither. So I use a trusted shop (AAA rated).
- Would you purchase a 2004 Honda pilot for $6,000.000 that has 216,000 miles on it? I'm just browsing online looking at cars for sale and a lot of them have 200k or more miles on them and they want $4,000 or more. Why do people sale their cars for such a high price with a lot of miles on them? Its not just Hondas its all types of cars private and dealers as well

- Transmission? 2009 Honda Civic Hybrid? My car does not move while on Drive gear. Ok so the mechanic checked my car yesterday and he said it was the transmission. How can I know if it really is the transmission or he's just telling me that to rip me off? He had the car on the jack yesterday and I could see the wheels spinning. Do the wheels still spin if the axle is broken? What can be the failure on my car?
- Engine on my 2009 honda civic blew and mechanic advised it could be upwards of 3,500 to repair? Mechanic advised it could be upwards of 3,500 to repair and said that it wasn't worth it to repair engine. However i still owe approx. $7000 on finance loan. What are my options my job requires me to have vehicle for work!
