Should I replace speakers and headunit in car before I sell it?

I have a Honda S2000 and I'm thinking of selling it soon. There speakers are blown, the aftermarket head unit is worn and finicky, there's an amp in the trunk, and the fob for the alarm needs reprogrammed. Should I replace the stock head unit and put some cheap speakers in or should I just leave it as is? I don't know if fixing the stuff would make a huge difference on the price I'd receive

Fix the fob for the alarm. Other than that, leave it "as-is". Get it detailed. Put the maintenance records in a neat folder.

S2000s are a coveted car in the used car market. Ask a reasonable price.

If you spend any serious cash on a new stereo system, you won't get your money back when you sell the car. It MIGHT be easier to sell if you just remove all the defective stereo components and give the new owner a few bucks discount on the price of the car.

It wouldnt help much on price but a few hundred dollars negotiation. Id buy the cheapest and put in myself. Spend as little as possible to make it look decent if oyu will. Or knck off about 400 for the repairs needed

Spending $x on it won't add $x to the price you get.

You will not be able to recover the cost to repair/replace the stereo components when you sell the car.

Putting in a cheap $200 stereo makes you look cheap. It will be obvious to any buyer that you installed a cheap stereo. It will diminish the value of the car.

Putting in an expensive unit won't increase the value of the car enough to recover the money you spent.

Sell the car with a broken stereo, disclose the defect and tell any potential buyer that you priced the car low to compensate for the defective unit.

Nah, not worth replacing. Anyone looking for an S2000 isn't really concerned with the stereo. If they are, they'll probably end up upgrading the unit themselves, anyway.

I wouldn't waste any money on it.

You can do it but you will never recover the cost
