I let my car sit for 3 months and the battery died. I tried to jump it but it would start?

I Tried jumping my car by connecting the jumper cable plugs to it for like 1 min and few seconds… Should I keep the jumper cables in longer or do I just need to buy a new battery. I drive a honda civc 2008.

Unfortunately car batteries tend to expire if left discharged for any length of time. If you had connected it to a trickle charger with a timer so that it got a couple of hours charge a day it would still be in good condition. New battery needed.

A completely dead battery acts as a dead short when jumping. If you want to charge it, use a battery charger. Charging from a jump is the best way to burn up the alternator in the jumping vehicle. Read this

I have found, if you use a "bargain" set of cables, many times it takes a long time to charge the battery enough to get the car to start. I went and spent $50 at WalMart for a good set of cables. They work so well I can jump start a vehicle without may car running. And I use them for jump starting trucks at work.
