Are VW new beetles safe cars for new drivers?
I really want a VW beetle when I get my drivers license butI ve heard some people say they are amazing cars and others say they are unsafe and unreliable. I would get a model between 2002-2010 for reference. Lastly do they break down a lot? Would I be better off with a honda?
You want a Beetle because you like the look of it. Of course it's safe and if it has been properly maintained it should be fine. But you, or someone, must test drive it to be sure. However how may do you see on the road? They are not popular because there are better cars out there for similar money. The Honda Jazz (UK) or Fit (USA) ticks all the boxes for reliability and economy. Google road tests on both cars and you will get an insight into them.

Wife bought a new 2003 New Beetle -- still has it. Got is because it was the only car that did the whatever speed test with zero damage. It is German engineering and handles fabulous. Has had no problems other than ONE battery and rear light sockets had to be replaced.
Liked the Beetle so good, that in '05 I got a used 2004 New Beetle for my daughter's first car. She married, went from So.Cal.To N.Y.; and still has it. Safe, and zero problems.
VWs do *NOT* break down a lot. At worst it might have a few more problems than a Honda -- mostly claims posted by Japanese car lovers.
Probably the Honda is better, but if you really like the VW buy one
Maintenance is key. Get a full service history car an get it serviced properly. Use a specialist. They are good cars built on a golf platform.

Yes they are safe. Worth the money? Not necessarily. Then try driving them.

for reports made by car owners on reliability and repair history. And they look 7 years back, so you can see what problems keep reoccurring in older cars. Many manufacturers continually repeat having the same weak spots year after year.
. If you need automatic transmission, then VW does not make a great one.
- Why do Honda JDM drivers think they are badass? Well today I was behind a white Ferrari 458 Italia. When all of a sudden one of those Honda ppl pulled up trying to show off his souped up car. It was sad because he thought his Honda was better. I'm just wondering why Honda drivers think their car is the best?
- What kind of cars are safe from flipping over? The freeway next to my house has had several Honda oddyseys flip over. Noone was killed though. Alot of white drivers texting and drinking drive and getting away with it as part of privilege, what cars can prevent flipping over to buy.
- Motorcycle problem is it my fault or the drivers? I'm a learner I drive a 50cc Honda bop 2. I was at the lights they where green I wasn't ready to go. I didn't go then suddenly stop. A women drove in the back of me and broke the brake light. Completely smashed I pulled over to the side moved my bike to the path-meant and went to talk to her. Insurance details etc she didn't give me a chance to speak all she said was the lights where green. And drove off. Is this my fault or hers? I'm really upset about it
