What could be causing my car to not be able to reach its top speed?

So my car is a 2003 4 speed Honda Element automatic awd. I'm aware that it has the aerodynamics of a brick but that should not stop it from reaching normal top speed of what other cars Cana achieve. And the first car I owned was a 98 Altima auto that had over 155,000 miles and that car would EASILY hit 100 mph and it felt like it could've gone Much faster than that, maybe 130 mph.

Anyways, my current car is in well kept condition. It has 235/r17 16" tires. Oil has been changed. HOWEVER, it does it have a check engine light due to a faulty o2 sensor. And the air filter has not been replaced yet. Would fixing those two problems help the car achieve its top speed? I've been plenty of boxy SUV's that can achieve 110-120 mph so i don't know why mine wouldn't be able to.

Also, could this truck keep up with my old Altima if it needed to or that car would smoke what I have now? I really like this truck for how practical it is and how safe it is. It handles and feels safer at higher speeds that I used to hit in my Nissan but I wish it doesn't have trouble achieving triple digits.

It can't have 235/17 tires if the wheels are 16"

Maybe because the top speed is electronically limited by a governor, Mark. You've already been told that many times.

You can sometimes tell a guy's hobbies by what is on his dresser. What's on yours? What could be causing my car to not be able to reach its top speed

Yeah I know it should be electronically limited to about 110 mph. I get that.

Actually when I was on the interstate, where it impossible for any cops to be hiding, I got my Honda to reach slightly over 100 mph. Before redline, it tops out at 6500 rpms. When I was on the interstate and I clipped it at 101-102 mph, the truck was gradually going faster once I reached 100 mph. Before I got to that speed, i the engine gradually went from 3,000 to 4000 rpms without needing to floor the gas and as it approached 4K then I was it slowly going over 100 mph. Something like 101-102 before I had to slow down as I ran out of road room.

So my question to you is if I had enough room, could my truck definitely have done 110 mph if I didn't run out of road room or that's hard to say?

Why? Because you're a troll Marc and you've never owned any of those vehicles. Now take your meds and then go play in the street like a good little aspie.
