What does it mean when the eco light comes on in honda?

It simply means that your car is getting the best mileage it can under the current driving circumstances. The computer has shut down and deactivated some cylinders because they are not needed. It does not indicate a problem.

A car only needs about 25-30 hp to maintain highway speeds (no wind, level road). So the extra horsepower from the engine isn't needed - wasted energy, wasted fuel. I believe Cadillac had a system years ago where they shut off 4 cylinders on their V8 engines when the extra horsepower wasn't needed.

That's a great question. I'm going to consult my owners manual, which I have in my glove box. I'm almost positive it'll explain what all those lights and switches are for. When I find out, I'll post it here.

There will be a display of every warning light on your dash and a full explanation for it in the owners manual in your glove compartment.
