What is the most reliable car you've ever owned and how many miles did you put on it?
Mine was Honda Passport with 250,000 miles bought brand new. Yeah I know it was rebadged Isuzu Rodeo but it was surprisingly reliable with no major problems.
420k miles on a 94 Camry. Engine and transmission still stock. The car would not die. Gave it to a cousin who of course, crashed it in a month.
I've got like 250,000 miles on my Bronco.
My current car, 1989 Chevy van, got me to and from Southern California about 8 times. A/C work, brakes and tires is all the work I've had done. 189,000 miles.
1985 Golf diesel with about 700,000 miles on it and still running.
Lincoln Towncar with ceramic iron 4.6 V-8 over 200,000 and it is still running
Chev S-10 pickup and a Ford Windstar mini-van have both been very reliable. I have no idea how many miles I put on either one.
68 Plynouth Valiant, bought for $550 with 140k miles. Only did brake shoes, oil changes, and a front seat until 242k until I sold it.
Saw it at a bank a year later, had been resold, the new owner was told it only had 69K, (speedometer only went to 99,999), he didn't believe me.
My current car, a 2002 Prius. This first generation Prius is much less reliable than the later generations but it needed its first actual repair a few months ago (around 195K miles) - the inverter coolant pump died. $150 and 4 hours work (darned rusty hardware!) later it was back on the road. Other than that it has been a couple of 12V batteries, a windshield, tires and wiper blades. The brakes are original.
Mine was a 1965 Dodge D200 pickup truck. 318 inch V-8 and a 4-speed manual trans. Bought it used with about 85,000 miles on it. Drove it back and forth to work every day for four years. Changed oil about once a year. Drove it home through Mt St Helens ash fall in Spokane. Replaced the air filter, starter and alternator and kept on driving. When I finally sold it a year later, the clutch was slipping a bit, but it still started and drove like a champ!
Hard to decide. Put 125K on my Chevelle, 125 on my Mazda. ID remember how many on '69 Plymouth.
In those days, I did only routine maintenance, timing belt. CV shafts, etc.
- What's the most expensive vehicle you've ever driven? I drove a $150,000 Mercedes G-Class at work today. I work at an auto mall so I get to drive a ton of different cars everyday, but we normally sell mainline brands (Honda, Toyota, Ford and so on) so expensive cars like those are rare there as they only come in for conditioning. I've also driven a Range Rover and Audi Q7
- 2004 Honda Pilot! I did an oil change today check the manual for the engine oil capacity, it is 4.8 liters and put 4.4 liters and add .5 ltr? Total engine oil put is 4.9 liters and I'm surprised the dipstick is above the second hole by 10mm. Is it overfill or do i need to remove some?
- Most reliable American car makes and models? Looking to buy brand new. For daily driving. Preferably 4 door mid-size or compact. Use to drive Nissan and Honda but considering American if good idea.
- Did you know that Philippines is so poor that if you own a car people will think you're rich? I live in the Philippines and I own a 2013 Honda Fit and I sometimes drive it when I go to the University, it's not even expensive. And my friends think I'm rich. Most people here only use underbone motorcycles for transportation, most families don't even own a car.
