What makes bently, Ferrari and all the other cars that have a price tag over 150K so expensive?
This does not really make sense all these cars that are 200 even 300K are so expensive I get because of the tag but are they really much better than Toyotas and Hondas there are cars such as Jaguars, Audi, Range rovers, and even Cadillacs That have more features than these really expensive cars I get that bently and Ferraris can go really fast but still does not make sense in the US you can get a fat ticket for speeding which does not make sense to buy a fast car for no reason what is the true difference between Bently's and Ferrari which cost over 200K between cars such as Jaguars, Audi, Cadillacs, and Range rovers which cost less than these other cars?
Right - these days a $15,000 Mazda or Suburu performs almost as well as a $300,000 exotic. Some people are willing to pay for exclusivity - - - - that's why it's possible for 2 sweatshirts coming down the same production line in China, identical except one gets a WalMart label and a $9.99 price tag, and the next one gets some phoney designer label and gets sold for $550 on Rodeo Drive.
The automobile business is based on unit costs and "breakeven" points: If it costs Chevrolet $5,000,000 to design and tool-up for a new part, and they plan to use 1,000,000 of that part a year, the cost could be amortized over 5 years… They might build $10 into the car's price to cover the cost and that part doesn't earn a penny profit until they sell the 500,001th one… Then it makes $10 profit for each next time they use it.
If Ferrari spends $1,000,000 to design and build a new part, and they use 500 of them a year… It would take 2000 years to amortize the cost (!) … So they have to charge more for their low-production car… Perhaps add $1000 to the price of the car to cover the new part so the cost is covered in 2 years - and the part starts to add to their profit on the 1001th car.
Much of the price is because it costs that much to make them. Those are all limited production cars, which means the development, testing, and certification costs get spread over fewer vehicles. If your computer were one of a kind it would have to cost a billion dollars just for the chip design and production.
It's because of the name. People are willing to pay $100,000's just to say that they own an (insert luxury brand here).
I agree. It really doesn't make sense to purchase these vehicles especially since their resale values and reliability ratings are TERRIBLE. In ten years, it's actually possible to purchase a top of the line Bentley Continental GT for under $50,000 in immaculate condition and EXTREMELY LOW mileage, even though its sticker price was well close to $250,000 brand new.
Bottom Line: These cars are "status vehicles". They're only used to show off how much money they've got, or probably don't really have. Reliability is never a factor for these people as these people usually have back up cars to drive around.
To adam and Mah Jen Boo - A Rolls Royce is nothing more than fancified BMW's, Lamborghini's are nothing more than fancified Audi's, Bentley's are nothing more than a fancified Volkswagen's and Ferrari's are nothing more than fancified Fiat's.
The main reason is IDIOTS are willing to pay that much for a name
Well because for one thing cars like bentleys and rolls royce's are beyond any other when it comes to the attention to detail and the luxury they provide. Cars like jaguar and Audi are nice but not on the same levels are cars like bentleys. A car like Ferrari, Bugatti and other similar ones is that its a huge feet of engineering when it comes to that car being able to do huge speeds but the car has to be able to last a long time and be some what practical. All the other manufacturers that make these cheaper cars make them because thats the biggest market and they probably couldn't compete with these super car manufacturers. Hope this answers your question.
Even seen the paint job on one of them? It's flawless and the rest of the car is like that.

Because they use top of the line material to make these cars. And each of their top of the line models are hand built by the same group of people and not mass produce like Toyota's or Honda's on an assembly line. Some of the lower end models are produce on an assembly line. But those carry a hefty price because of the name and prestige mostly, they still are a par above a Toyota or even a Audi.
- Which brands of cars are more reliable and less expensive to maintain? I have been driving American cars, Honda, Toyota and they're easy to find parts when something go wrong. I would like to buy a Volkswagen beetle or a European car. Like 2004 or 2003 Volkswagen beetle. If something go wrong, does it cost more to fix it? Is maintenance more expensive than a Honda or a Toyota yaris. I know the Honda and Toyota last forever after a few hundred thousand miles and they re still in excellent running condition with regular services. What do you guys think?
- Should I paint over a bad tear in my bumper, or order a new one and have the mechanics install it then have them paint it? I recently bought a used 1997 Honda Prelude. It's red and badly sun faded and has a bad tear on the rear bumper. I was wondering whether I should just have it painted over or order a whole new bumper and have the people at the shop install it and paint it for me. Any suggestions?
- 4 stroke 50cc scooter makes loud buzzing noise at 55 KPH and won't go over 60KPH? I have a fairly new 4 stroke 50cc Honda scooter. I recently put in a new CDI hoping to increase performance. It helped a little bit, but when I go over 55 KPH I start to hear a high pitched buzzing sound and the bike won't go past 60. Even on a flat surface. I'm not sure what the problem is. Does my bike have some kind of limiter? Is it the pulley or muffler? Or is 60 kph the fastest my bike will go?
- Is it weird to wear cloth brands like versace, gucci etc and drive a car around 70k-150k range? I know wearing those brand and driving like a honda, toyota etc would look weird, but is cars like mercedes, bmw ok? Or does it have to be something higher like maserati, ferrari, lambo, aston etc?
