What would be a good first car? - 1

I'm going to start my summer job in about a month and I'm going to earn around $2,500. I want to use this money to buy my first car. I'm stuck on which car I want to buy. I want the performance of a early 2000's Camaro, the sportiness of a Subaru, at the price of a Honda. What cars do y'all recommend for me. Or should I just get a truck so I can use it for work?

Not a Camaro or any kind of sports car.

The sportiness of a Subaru?! I don't think I've ever heard someone say that before. So you want a sporty car for $2500. You need to look at 90s sports cars then. I can think of…

V6 Camaro
V6 Firebird
Mazda Miata
Nissan 240SX
Nissan 300ZX
Mitsubishi 3000GT SL
Toyota Celica
Mitsubishi Eclipse
V6 Mustang

That's about the best I can come up with for a $2500 price, it's doubtful you can find a V8 mustang or camaro for that price that isn't ragged out. Anyways, if it's your first car, learn to drive a V6 before you get a V8 and spin the tires and car off the side of the road. And anyways a V8 sucks on gas and isn't ideal for a teenager running around alot. I do love a V8 though! I also don't like front wheel drive cars AT ALL. That's why I only put a couple on the list.

You can't get any decent car for $2500. Cars in that range are already on their way out.

You want something that is safe and reliable. Camaros are cool cars but I'm guessing you are a new and younger driver so insurance will be out in orbit as it is and Camaros jack it up more. I would go for a minivan, Buick or Ford Crown Vic. Crown VIcs are safe reliable not to bad on gas and are cheap to fix. The odds of wrecking your first car are high. So totaling a minivan is one thing a Camaro hurts. But remember if you want to play you have to pay.
