Why did Honda discontinue the Prelude?

I love that car. Why did honda stop producing them?
cauz of sales?

The Honda Prelude was a pieoneer of new technology for Honda, that also brought major expense for them. The Prelude was priced at around $30k-$25k for the 97-01 model. You could buy an Accord or Integra for less and get close to the same power and options. Also the 97-01 Preludes came standard with Full Power, Moon Roof and other things and where only offered in 2 trims, the Base (auto, Trip Tronic, manual) and Type-SH. So Basically the Prelude became Expensive to make. All the 97-01 Prelude Chassis were made in Japan, so shipping was also added to the Retail price. It was NOT replaced by the S2000. The Accords, integras (RSX) and Civic Si were a better bang for your buck.

Slow sales might have been a factor, but i have heard unofficial rumors that the prelude was being replaced because honda didn't want to create to much competition for its own products, with the prelude ending in 2001 (also the US Integra being replaced by the RSX)

basically

prelude (last generation of them) 97-01, discontinued in my opinion replaced by the s2000.

also in 2001 they ended the US integra replaced with the acura rsx (honda integra japan)

plus H22A4 had older VTEC technoledgy, where as the new RSX (integra) came out with the K-Series, i-VTEC (also in 2002 the civic si EP3)

i think honda was trying to stay ahead of the trends and trying to stay with new designs.

the S2000 has been discontinued as well, making room for the New NSX

and In my opinion the NSX will just be replaced with the new concept car the Honda HSC (if thats not the new nsx design)

Sales is the likely indicator to discontinue a model, honda spends millions every year to try to sell more cars, the prelude simply did not fit into their marketing scheme.

Slow sales and relatively expensive compare to other cars in its class. On top of dat it simply was lacking. I have an 01 lude and i LOVE it, but the interior was ol so plain. Not bad for my 1st car tho.

It's a two door vehicle, and those do poorly in sales compared to 4 door sedans, pick-ups, and SUVs.

First they are not that fast second why civics and accord still in the market cause the people buy them i don't see other explanation

They are to fast for the cops
