Why do people get mad over the fact that their cars require full synthetic oil?
I work as a mechanic and found some people do not like the fact 2010 and up toyotas and Hondas and almost all 2014 cars and European cars require full synthetic oil. A majority of the anger comes towards toyotas and Hondas. Despite me explaining the increased intervals, they still get angered at the fact. Is it just me or does less time doing oil changes that save you more money in the long run end up coming out cheaper despite the increased price and why would they be angry saving money?

People are willing to drop $30.000 for a car; but resent having to maintain the vehicle. There are still a fair number of mechanics and consumers that believe synthetic oils, as well as lighter viscosity oils are destroying cars. I, ve been an amsoil user for over twenty years. I know synthetics with extended drain intervals work, and well. My sis still believes that the head gasket on her junker car failed because of synthetic oil. Ignorance is not a virtue.
People don't like to change. They could have a full electric vehicle that doesn't need any oil changes synthetic or "natural, but tend to prefer the "old ways." It is left to those not so attached to a well worn path to try and show that there's a better way.
It's expensive.
- What are some sites where people rent out their own personal cars? I'm thinking of one, but I forgot the name of it. You'd have a list of people renting their cars out in your area. You could rent anything from a 15yo Honda with a manual trans to newer Teslas and BMWs. Any similar rental services?
- Why is it that some husbands let their wives drive luxury cars while they drive ordinary cars? I've been observing some of my neighbors (one of them is a stay at home mom) and the husbands drive ordinary cars like Honda Accord or Honda Pilot. But the wives tend to drive luxury cars like Acura TSX or Acura RDX (some form of luxury car). What is the reason for this? Why do wives get to drive luxury cars while the husband drives ordinary car? I should say some of them. Its not a problem though but was only curious. The neighbors are Asians actually.
- Is going from synthetic oil in my '03 HOnda Hybrid to regular oil bad? Over 100K miles, always used synthetic oil. Took the car to my mechanic to have brakes checked, and he thought the oil looked dirty so he drained it and put in regular oil. Now I'm concerned about my engine. Advice please? I do not know what kind of regular oil he put in.
- Why do people keep flashing their headlights at me? I don't understand why people keep flashing their headlights at me? I have a Honda Civic and I always have my lights on auto. So I know they're turned on. People behind me and in front of me are always flashing their lights at me and I don't know why. Do they want me to turn on the high beams? It's just annoying. I don't know what to do, I don't get it.
