Why does my 1985 honda trx 125 keep dying?

I have just replaced the carb and the battery; I have set the carb to factory settings with the mixture and idle screw and it 'seems' to run fine until I have it running for around 20 or so minutes and usually in a higher gear the thing will just loose all power and I have to start her back up again.
When I start her up after it dies and in neutral it does not die BUT as soon as I engage 1st gear 9/10 it will die as soon as I give it throttle; I have to tap on the throttle a few times to get the gas flowing again.

What could be causing this?

I never had this problem before changing the carb; the only problem I had was the idle did not work but it ran for ages unless you stop then it would idle out.

Hope somebody can help me or at least offer suggestions.

After it dies and you start it up again, will it stall out while in neutral when you give it throttle?
If so, that is a symptom of water in the gas.
Drain the carburetor into a clean cup to see what comes out.

Since you just replaced the carb, I would remove it, disassemble it and check your work.

I was trying to change my headlights the other day, when one broke and cut my hand pretty bad. This had never happened to me before, but has this happened to anyone? Is there a good brand i could buy?

  • What's the difference between the '07 Honda TRX 450r '08 Honda TRX 450r? Is there much of a difference? I know the '08 gas tank was reduced to 2.6 gallons and it has more customization, but I'm not sure what the difference is between the 07 and 08. I see a lot more 07's and they're cheaper but the 08's cost more and seem better. Is there any difference?
  • GRS 125 or a Honda CBF 125? I'm stuck between the bikes, both look very reliable and build quality. The GRS 125 is new and is around 2000 pounds at my dealer, pretty bike and feels nice, Austrian made so its a European bike. The CBF125 is a 2010 model with 310 miles, pretty much new and seems nice too, it comes around 1700 pounds. So I was wondering which one I would be recommend as a starter bike and what's the better choice?
  • I have a 2006 Honda Metropolitan, WHen cold it starts up but i have to keep revving it to keep it going? I have already replaced the battery, air filter, spark plug, did an oil change, got new gas, cleaned out the carb. Once it is warm i have no issues with it. It usually takes about 3 to 4 min of driving it to get it warm but once warm everything is fine with stopping and going.
