Would a 2002 Honda rebel 250 be to small for me?
I'm 6"6 and 375lbs
Every motorcycle has a little different 'ergonomics', the spatial relationship between the seat, handlebars, and footpegs. How it 'fits' you is entirely subjective. Nobody can tell you. The only way really to tell is to find one and sit on it and see what you think.
I think you will feel cramped on a Rebel, but wtf do I know? It's how YOU feel that's important.
Also the Rebel, being a 250, is not really capable of cruising at highway speeds. Your weight is not a problem for the bike to carry, but at sustained speeds above about 50 mph the bikes' going to be beating its little brains out.
I think it will make you feel like you are riding a child's toy trike. Can you ride it? Sure. It will give you a great first experience on something that is hard to harm if you make mistakes. Sit on one, see if you don't feel cramped. I'm a foot shorter than you and I felt like my knees were in my lap.
You'd be better off with something like a Suzuki GS500. Maybe even a Kawasaki KLR650, as you're 6ft6.
Around town you should be ok but freeway may be an issue. The big problem is the bike frame the rebel is designed for people with about a 30" inseam you being taller and longer legs might feel cramped on a smaller bike. Personally I think looking into the Shadow may be a better option. Go ride the Rebel you'll know in about 5 miles if it is to small…
I think you'd be fine.
- My wife's but is too big for the backseat of of my Honda Rebel 250? How to make a bigger backseat? My wife finds the backseat of my 2006 Rebel uncomfortably small. I've searched the internet to see if they make a larger option, but I haven't found anything. Is there a larger backseat I can buy? I'm considering building my own. I have foam and vinyl, but I need to think of a material to make a sturdy, seat-shaped frame piece that I could attach the vinyl to. Any ideas?
- What is the squeaky noise on my 2009 honda rebel CMX 250 when I start the first time (it then goes away). What could this be? I have a Honda Rebel CMX 250 and it makes a weird horn / belt slipping like noice only in the morning when the first try to start the engine. What could this be?
- Will my Honda Rebel 250 handle an hour on the highway at 60/65mph? I just had my truck tires stabbed by one of the wild 10 year old kids that roam my neighborhood. Now I need to ride my motorcycle to work. I'm not a big fan of highway riding. It's scary and I don't want to die. Anyway, the question is - will my little Honda Rebel 250 handle going 65 for an hour continuously? I know it's not meant for high speeds and is more of a little put putter.
- Should I get an 87 Honda rebel for 1500 or a 15 Honda rebel for 4100? Both will have same insurance rate. I know the older one will have more problems to fix but is cheaper up front while the newer one cost more now but will have less problems in the future. Also in case you are wondering the 87 is a 450cc and the 15 is a 234cc.
