Can my 94 Honda Accord take premium gas? - 1
Yes but you will be spending extra money that you don't need to
You can run premium gas in any car. But it's a waste of money unless the car has a higher performance (higher compression) engine that actually requires the higher octane fuel. There's no relationship between octane rating and power in the fuel. It's just a measure of how it resists detonation under compression.
So you can fill up a standard grade gas car with premium, and the ONLY effect will be you have wasted a dollar on the more expensive fuel.
If the car is turbo charged or has a higher compression ratio, then you usually have to use the high octane fuel to prevent detonation in the engine.
The V6 version might like it; the four-cylinder could not possibly care less.
