Is this some sort of fraud and can i sue?
Just bought my first car on craigslist. I bought 2001 honda accord that was listed at 3500 118k miles passed smog and no problems and i did everything wrong and got screwed. The guy who originaly sold me the car didn't mention he didn't have the pink nor was it under his name and the tags and registration were expired. He talked me into taking it for 2k and i could give him the rest when we changed ownership and renewed tags and registration the next day.In less than a day the check engine and TCS light came on We met today at cal ez auto registration waited for the original title holder and signed the transfer of ownership on the title. We couldnt get the tags reg and title due to a system malfunction they said they would have to get it from the dmv and i could pick it up tommorow with the title. The original owner works at a dealership which the title was under but kept insisting he was just there to change the title. I checked carfax and the last logged millage is 159k but is still a clean title the original seller doesn't have his name on anything but the smog check. My eyes are on the original title holder who works at a dealership. I only gave 2k still have the car and the title has been transferred under my name.
The title you have in hand will mean nothing if seller's name is not listed. And if the listed person who is listed as the title holder does not sign over title to you you yourself will never be able to transfer title into your name.
It sounds like you now have the title, in your name and a smog cert less than 90 days ago, therefore, able to get registration and title transfer completed. So what is the problem?
All used cars bought from a private seller are sold as is. No warranty or guarantee of any kind. It doesn't even have to run, to transfer it to you, with a valid smog cert. You can take it to a garage and have someone look into the TCS light and it's cause.
When buying any used car, it is always a smart idea to bring along a mechanic to inspect it, and help make a good decision. The price seems fair for the mileage and age of the car.
All private sales are "AS IS". Can you sue? Yes, you can sue. Will you win? I doubt it very, very, very, very, very much.
If you don't know what this: "CAVEAT EMPTOR" means, look it up
- Will yamaha sort out their issues in 2019 season? I'm sure hoping so, not looking to great atm but if they can it could make the most interesting year in gp. Great to see vinales and vales up fighting for podiums with the ducatis and hondas again, probably with the suzukis alot more next year also.
- Can i sue used car dealer ship? I brought a 2012 vw jetta in 2014. I paid almost 1900 in total. I new i was robbed after the fact. In 2016 I go to Honda dealer ship to try and trade in my car and they told me that my car was reported stolen in 2013 and that my car was used a a rental. Honda told me that I have a upside down car because they over charger me and didn't tell me the true facts about the car. Can i take them to court?
- Some nobody in a Honda rear ended my Benz, how can I be compensated for my valuable time? His insurance is taking care of my car but so far it wasted 3 hours of my time. My salary is in the upper six digits so every minute counts.
- Magna Fork pinch bolt replaced with some sort of pin I have a 1984 Honda Magna VF700C and I need to replace the front tire. Problem is, the axle pinch bolt has been replaced with some sort of pin similar to the four above the front fender. How do I get this out? I know a new bolt would be cheap, but has anyone ever heard of this, and is it possible that the threads are ruined? What kind of cost am I looking at if they are?
