Nissan Maxima or Honda Accord?

It's about time for me to buy my first car! I plan for this to be temporary while I save up for a $5000 car to last me until I'm out of college. After that, I will finance.

So both are private sales. One is a Honda Accord and the other, a Nissan Maxima. BOTH are 1998! As for millage, the Accord has 175,000 and the Nissan has 200,000. I know there are probably better deals. But please just tell me from your experiences which you would choose and/or which one I should get.

I've done some research and people seem to like the Maxima better than the Accord. My parents, however, strongly disagree and feel that Honda is the way to go. Please Help. I NEED an answer so expect 10 points for the best!

Neither. Lease a smart car for $105 a month

For cars that old and with that many miles, the car make and model doesn't make much difference.

What you need to know is which is in the best condition, which has the fewest serious problems, and which is likely to last until you get out of college. And there's only ONE way to get those answers -- get a professional mechanic to thoroughly inspect the car and give you a written report of his findings. Otherwise, you open yourself to making a big mistake and losing a lot of money.
