1998 Honda Civic EK B18C4 high idle when start up?
I recently purchased a Honda Civic with B18C4 engine swapped in and everytime I start it up, the rpm needle shoots to 2k for about 5-8 seconds then goes back down 1k but the engine misfires. What can I do to fix this?
You made several mistakes when you purchased such a fine automobile…(1) did you have a mechanic do an inspection of all components before purchase? (2) did you get all written maintenance records from the previous owner? (3) is it even legal where you live to have a vehicle with an engine that is not the OEM engine? ( many States now have laws where so called engine swaps are now illegal, and the vehicle can't be sold with a different engine than the OEM )… Since you made all of those mistakes, you are now finding out that you should not have purchased that heap, and now you need a mechanic to do the inspection of at least the engine to diagnose the problem and give you the not - so- good - news about repairs, if even possible
(PS - not to be harsh ; but many young people do exactly what you did, then they have problems with the vehicle, and want to find a way out…)
- My honda moped 50cc won't idle or start when i don't rev it? The owner told me the fuel line is blocked or something. Can anyone help me please? I'd like to do it manually because i don't want to bring it to the shop. Might cost alot.
- Honda clone small engine, horizontal shaft, high idle? It is on a baja warrior mini bike. I bought this bike from a guy who tried to make it a bit faster but left me with a problem. When starting the bike you have to jump on it as soon as it fires up because it starts going with out any twist of the throttle. I already cleaned the carb and the jets and tried adjusting the idle at the idle screw on top of the carb. The linkage looks fine and returns to the position it should. Also the clutch is in working order. How do I lower the idle?

- 2002 Honda Civic with uneven idle and sometimes hard to start? 2002 Honda Civic with uneven idle and sometimes hard to start My Honda will at times sputter a little after starting it and either taking off in drive or reverse. It will also at times sputter when slowing down on a curve or over a speed bump. Recently a few times I have had to punch the gas when starting so it will catch. I recently had a new fuel pump installed but it is now doing the same thing it was doing before the new installation. Any ideas?
