98 Honda Civic Terrible Mileage?
I have a 1998 Honda Civic Coupe. Short Ram Air Intake and it has this knob that you can change how much air goes in, it's on high.
I also have a Skunk2 Intake Manifold, Skunk2 Polished Headers, Skunk2 Whole Exaust system.
Brand new tires, lightweight rims.
I'm getting around 200 miles on a tank and it can hold 11.9 gallons which equals to 16.8 MPG which sounds Way off since Google says civics should get around 34 city and 44 hwy
Any ideas? My check engine light is on and it says P0420 which is o2 sensor
Your car is modified to race and you are expecting it to have good economy? Those mpg numbers are for stock Civics, unmodified and left alone. Put every stock part back on and your mpg numbers will improve. And replace that cat converter. That is what the code is for, bad cat converter.
- What's the best automatic Honda Civic 1996-98 model (ex. Dx.lx. Etc) as far as gas mileage and reliability? I was interested in the 96-98 hx cvt civic yet there are many complaints of heavy vibrations when stalling. Also I can't drive manual and can't afford to take lessons
- What is a good mileage to look for in a Honda Civic, Scion xB, and Toyota Prius to be used for a few years without too many problems? I'm looking at the above mentioned cars to be used for 1-3 years, but I do not know the mileage to look for. I d like to know the milage lifetime for each car mentioned, and approximately at how many miles the car will survive without having consistent problems. If you could give me the answer for each kind of car, or even one of them it would be greatly appreciated.
- Is 190560 miles on a 98 Honda civic lx considered high mileage? My sister gave me her civic and it runs great. There's hasn't been major problems since I've had it, other than the coil. With the right amout of money it was an easy fix. I've been wanting to change the oil but the guy at Wal-Mart suggested that I use the high mileage oil. I don't think it'll really hurt my car at any rate but is my car really high mileage?
- How to trust a cars mileage when unplugging the speed sensor stops the mileage from ticking? My speedometer just went out and I noticed the mileage stopped tacking. I did some research and found I just need to replace the sensor. Then after a few youtube videos, I realized that anyone could just unplug the sensor and drive 100k miles, plug it back in, and sell it for a good price. Is there a way to check the history of a cars driving without mileage add-on through its computer to avoid buying from a liar? I'm referring to 1998 honda civics.
