Honda is reading po135 but o2 sensor changed(twice), check engine light still on?
My Husband and I bought a car. 2004 civic coupe LX automatic. Check engine light came on, we got it read and it came up po135, a code for camshaft position sensor intermittent signal and the Electronic load detector. We got everything we needed and bought some extra tools. My husband fixed the timing belt that was just changed previously (it was off a tooth), changed everything it said to fix, but the code is still on. He went to a dealership, had it reset, drove home engine light went back on. We tested the O2 sensor it was good but replaced it just in case. My husband checked the wires for the circut, everything was fine from what he could tell, He checked fuses, tested resistence, checked for a open or grounded wire, basically a lot. The P0135 code still comes up. My husband suggests a new PCM install it, big surprise, not the PCM. The car runs just fine and other than the check engine light you would not know there's a issue. Is their anything else we could do before we spend hundreds of $ we do not really have to get this car on the road? Its too late to sell, we have lost so much money might as well go for fixing the darn thing.
Heres a description of code and All possible causes…http://www.autocodes.com/p0135_honda.html
Did you install the correct factory (Honda) sensor? Does the car have any exhaust leaks? Does the O2 sensor heater circuit have a relay? If it does, did you check the relay? Did you check for battery voltage on the "hot" heater terminal in the harness to the sensor with engine running? Is the PCM providing a pulsing ground to the heater circuit with engine running?
Please see a mechanic or a Honda dealer with an (expensive) scanner. O2 sensor testing.requires testing for waveforms.
A car with the incorrect sensor installed:
So here we have another nut case that spent a ton of money throwing expensive parts at a car problem and now they have no more money to pay to have the car repaired? LMAO! Maybe you should sell the car so you have money to fix it!
- Check engine light, open door light, and batterie light all came on and won't go off? 2000 Honda Odyssey I already had the altinator replaced it a month old. The batterie almost a year old. Would the belt need be changed or something else?
- Engine light on, o2 sensor bad, knocing sound from top of engine? Hi, i have honda prelude 98.manual. The problem started with knocing sound from engine for few days! Then all of sudden engine check light comes on! I got engine light checked! It comes o2 sensor bad! Car rpm is really low now touches zero and get back to 200/300 when in neutral
- Honda civic code PO135 won't turn off with new o2 sensor? Code reader said po135 which means O2 Sensor Heater Circuit Malfunction. Bought a new o2 sensor, changed it and then reset the dash board. The light stayed off while the car idled but came back on when I drove it with the same code. Someone on youtube said that if it doesn't idle properly, you probably have a dirty aic valve and that could be what is causing the o2 sensor not to work. The car idled fine but I tried cleaning it anyways, the same thing happened. Someone please help!
- Bought a 2006 Honda Civic ex about a month ago, the check engine light came on and it was throwing code p0133 o2 sensor slow response? Bank 1 sensor 1. Now I checked again and it's a P0171 code as we'll System Too Lean Bank 1 . My friend looked at it and said it's my oxygen sensor. Could that be the reason, and is that way it threw the other code as well? The car runs pretty good, does guzzle has a little.
