The 250 will have more power, but the top speed could be about the same.

It's not all about top speed, but how fast you get there.

If you need to ask than the KX 100 because you don't know HOW TO RIDE and a 250 will rip your arms off before crashing to the ground to break one of your legs.

Do you understand the numbers? They are engines sizes and a 250 is TWICE+ the 100.

The KX 100 is a bad lil bike its fast as h#LL while its smaller in CC's its a moto crosser that likes to rev and in the correct hands it can whoop A$$ over a lot of guys and there bigger bikes On a 80 or 100 cc and 125 the thing is your either full throttle or not. There's no in between With the smaller CC 2 strokes like the KX and CR 's, YZ's etc. The CRF 250 is a good bike don't get me wrong A KX 100 in the right hands is tough to beat Even on bigger bike My daughter raced a CR 85 and since has gone up in Bike size But her CR 85 is pumped now to a 105 cc she wails on the track beating guys on bigger bikes Mostly because its very light and flickable and controllable. The 250 is a good bike too But there two different engine types The CRF is cool and depending on what you ride like only trail or both track and trail Are you a serious racer How big are you and what's your weight If your looking to race competitively and say your early teens Maybe the 100 is what you need If your later teens then maybe the 250 While the CRF is raced in competition Those bikes are set up a lot differently than what you get off the showroom floor Also you can grow into the 250 while the 100 you can grow out of ( i raced for years starting in 85 on a honda CR 80 I stopped racing competitively in 2014 My daughter is still actively racing competitively ) But when i go riding i take my daughters Lil honda and blast it its a freaking rocket But its also geared for one thing Balls out, full throttle shredding. It can't be cruised very well The KX is the same thing all or nothing And in between all or nothing is fouled plugs, loading up The Mini's Which what a 100 is still even the big wheels. Are great for the track The 250 is still able to be hopped up Its more forgiving ( the 2 cycle 80 and 125 class are the hardest bikes to race because if you fall off the pipe You lost the race So it takes a lot of energy and focus to keep it revving and upright and to hold your position ) While a 250 and larger bikes If you make a mistake usually on the larger bike all it takes to correct is a slip -O- the clutch to correct it and that applies to the trail too The 250 in the long run i think will offer you more enjoyment depending on the style of riding you do It can be hopped up with after market parts There both solid bikes it depends on how you ride but overall you will outgrow the 100 Even though there a blast to ride Your still going to outgrow it But also don't be fooled by some kid on his Mini MXer I have seen some talented youngsters Blow the doors off older guys on there bigger bikes. Not because of power its because of skill I have seen two pro riders go bar to bar One on a CR 100 the other on a CR 250 Its about skill and knowing your limitations. So honestly if this is a long term motorcycle for fun get the CRF But the KX 100 is a rocket in its own right and can easily be made faster too a lot faster but its limited in ways the CRF is not which makes the CRF a better choice in the long run don't listen to some one who thinks because its bigger its faster It may be But only if its in the right hands My daughter has made boys cry on 125's cause she busted them on a 80 I'm not joking really a few were crying cause they had the best money could buy But had no heart when it came down to it.So while having the best is great It don't make anyone a winner. Good luck Have fun and stay safe I suggest the 250 for overall ease of riding, easy aftermarket options and you won't outgrow it fast as the 80 You may find that after a while the 250 is not quite adequate either Thats a common thing The KX is all race while the CRF can pull double duty as a racer and a trail blazer
